Brian aka timberwolf did a whole thread here years back with testing and his dyno back in the day here on a 026. You can go super big before any issues arise.

Heck seen 18-23% gains just on 30min muffler mods on 290-390. Those are really choked bad. 290 worst.
038 is another saw that’s pretty choked up. I removed the internal baffle on my 038 mag and added an additional outlet on flywheel side. Used a 034 muffler spacer on the inside to add rigidity to the gasket sealing surface after removing the baffle. Turned out really good and saw runs much better now.

I see Red Beard is running a 'Black Friday' sale on everything including West Coast saw parts and mufflers and the 'Bark Box' as well. I don't need anything but he is. From what I see, his modded new saws are pretty steep in price however.
