Our chuck 'n duck's been a good machine but it can't keep up with our pace and is holding us back so we're in the market. I'm hoping to find a decent used machine with autofeed under our budget of about $10K. This is foriegn territory for me since I've only run the BC1800xl and a couple of the old whisper chippers.

Obviously, I cannot afford a very large chipper but I was hoping to find something in the 10-12 inch range that fits in our budget. I like vermeer, 'cause I've used them, but I'm not opposed to any other brand. My only concern is I can't upgrade our truck right away so it may spend a few months behind our 1 ton so it can't be too too heavy. I don't have a problem running "a little" heavy but we have a few hills 'round here if ya know what I mean.

Any advice would be really helpful.

There are a lot of good Bandit 250'S out there in the 6500-10000 price range. Try to get one with the cummins motor and youll **** when you see it eat. Lots of options. Hydraulic lift assist is a must, or youll be cutting logs at an angle to get em' in. Also you can do a lot with a winch. I dont like the vemeer 1250/1230. I ran one for years and was just a pain in the ass. Everyone that I worked with at that company for the 3 years i was there that had run any other 12 inch machine hated it. I could rant about that pile for days but I dont want my fingers to bleed when I get done typing.

I doubt I'll "****" when I see anything w/in my price range after running a 1800 on the ground for 5 years. What's a hydraulic lift? I was thinking a 1230 or 1250 but a few bandit 90's have caught my eye as well.
