need info on logs in ohio

i have some red oak nice ones in ohio and im being told that red oak is not considered for veneer and im being told that they are saw logs only white oak would be considered for veneer is that true or do i need to keep looking for different mills someone please help because i really dont know and dont want to be taken im a disabled vet with a family of seven and on a VA limited income so can someone that knows what they are talking about please let me know what to do? thank you

red oak is certainly grade log and veneer here. however markets change drasticly from one area to another. I suggest you call you county forrestery office, they should be able to put you in touch with more buyers so you can make a better descision. ps; thank you sir for your service to our country.

thank you for the info treeslayer2003 seems like someone was out to make more then they should have off of me. and ill fallow that info and see where that takes me agin thanks.
 
need help identifying trees

can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a rea and white oak tree and maybe some others like ash,poplar,and other trees found south ohio any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
