18" bar

18" is great, thanks for the advice folks.
Have cut about 6 cords of poplar, 2 or 3 of spruce, and maybe 10 cords of ash. The saw works dandy.
The Ash was dusty work and the 357 air system was way better than the 036 working beside me. The 357 was bar deep in the ash many times and had the power to impress (me anyway)

Yup, but 18" is about max, for good balance and power - if you are just crosscutting, it should be a very good saw......:rockn:

Btw, welcome here (to the madness)......:rockn: :rockn:

You can't find a 357 with anything less than a 20" bar in this area. I tried setting up a few with 18" bars and had to switch them all back to 20". Around here I can't move a rancher unless it's got a 20" on it and sometimes have people insisting on a a 24" for the 359. People in this area seem to want the smallest saw approved for a 20" or 24" bar. If the book says it'll do it that's all they care about even when I tell them they won't be satisfied with the performance.
