Yesterday, I was headed home from my rope supplier, excited to see the front porch, in hopes that my EHP 357 would have arrived...and leapin' lizards, it wuz there!!! Talk about a kid in the candy store!!! It took a while to rip the package open, as Ed had done such a marvelous job of packing it. As well, he sent me a tach, and a used 372 crank. What a man. The saw cuts like I expected, from seeing the times Ed posted with it, where it was about even with a stock 7900.
Today, I unrolled, and marked 1800 feet of line. Cut most of it to length, and rolled 400 feet of 1/2 inch PSRopes coated double braid back onto the drum after marking it at 200 feet. I'm not sure, but I may have 200 feet of it to sell, if anyone wants a good line at a great price. (It's the red line) The white rope is PSRopes DS Composite, 9/16th and 18,800 tensile. it is a jacketed double braid with spectra or similar core.. A great line for GRCS work, speed lining and pulling, with its near zero stretch!!! I'm using my 250 feet line tomorrow to remove an 80 foot hemlock from it's position lodged in a 130 foot fir. The GRCS will do the real work. And Dave is using his 350 foot hank right away too. And I cut the Sampson Gold Streak into 4 150 foot hanks, all a bit long thanks to a generous spool...that will be good to allow for some length loss from the eye splicing.
Still have 600 feet of 1/2 inch Arborplex to cut and distribute to other folks. I'm keeping 150 feet of it..don't much like the stuff but it was on sale at Bailey's.
