Yesterday, I was headed home from my rope supplier, excited to see the front porch, in hopes that my EHP 357 would have arrived...and leapin' lizards, it wuz there!!! Talk about a kid in the candy store!!! It took a while to rip the package open, as Ed had done such a marvelous job of packing it. As well, he sent me a tach, and a used 372 crank. What a man. The saw cuts like I expected, from seeing the times Ed posted with it, where it was about even with a stock 7900.

Today, I unrolled, and marked 1800 feet of line. Cut most of it to length, and rolled 400 feet of 1/2 inch PSRopes coated double braid back onto the drum after marking it at 200 feet. I'm not sure, but I may have 200 feet of it to sell, if anyone wants a good line at a great price. (It's the red line) The white rope is PSRopes DS Composite, 9/16th and 18,800 tensile. it is a jacketed double braid with spectra or similar core.. A great line for GRCS work, speed lining and pulling, with its near zero stretch!!! I'm using my 250 feet line tomorrow to remove an 80 foot hemlock from it's position lodged in a 130 foot fir. The GRCS will do the real work. And Dave is using his 350 foot hank right away too. And I cut the Sampson Gold Streak into 4 150 foot hanks, all a bit long thanks to a generous spool...that will be good to allow for some length loss from the eye splicing.

Still have 600 feet of 1/2 inch Arborplex to cut and distribute to other folks. I'm keeping 150 feet of it..don't much like the stuff but it was on sale at Bailey's.

Kind of weird but RB's enthusiasm with his new ropes made my day!!!

Go for it RB.

Funny what it takes to make an Arbo happy. Completely understandable.

Aussie,

All the line is spoken for, except for some of the 1/2 inch db...and that might be too. Shipping costs to down under would be costly too. I'm also probably getting 2000 feet of Plasma in 1.75 and 2.5 mm, super cheap....the 2.5 mm is rated at 1400 lb, but I'm thinking it might be a little hard to hold for lowering:D Price is super cheap, and there might be some left over, i don't know. My supplier is checking to see if they can put it up in neon, yellow or orange. The stock purple might be a bit hard to see.

He’s taunting us guys! Let’s get him!

Rog next time you buy rope make sure there’s enough for the whole class so you can share. Dang, I just put a big order for new equipment in yesterday, got a good deal on ½ and 5/8 stable braid. In fact I don’t think that anyone can beat the prices on arborist equipment.
How much for the plasma Rog? And are you working on a deal for ½”?

new gear

i need a new climbing saw i was thinking of ms200 stihl i am working my arm whit a stihl 025 w/16''bar any sugs.

The prices i get are awesome, maybe .58 a foot for the 1/2 coated db, and $365 for Samson goldstreak 600 ft. The DsComposite was 1.07 a foot... we broke it in today!! Boy did we ever! We suspended a leaning 85 foot 2 foot dbh hemlock and butt cut it, lowered it down with the GRCS. The tree it was in was a 170 foot fir. Pics will follow. Worked 13 hours today, but the three man crew brought in $2400! and none of that was insurance work padded prices.

Cool, but that's from the rep who badmouthed PSR?? Ben's Samson deals are not going to be as good as yours. Speaking of which, see what you can get 1000 feet of 2.2mm ZingIt for...as it is smaller and thus better than the 2.5 Plasma.

ill swap you a few ficafolias (flowering gums native to my area)in pink ,red, gold and ill pay shipping ive got a few nice specimens here.they only grow bout 30'
