Great work and the plan seems to have worked perfect for you.
I wish I had a farm some days so I can play with bigger toys too.
Just make sure that cotter pin is closed (third pic)...he,he.

Ha. I lost them shortly after taking that pic. Still haven't found them.

Wowzer, I have tons of pics on here in the Scrounging thread. Also have a bunch here in this thread. http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/my-firewood-tools.153256/page-18
We lost a lot of pics during a hacking event but I was able to put some back up. I just cleared a lot on Upper Lorne Beach a few weeks ago with the grapple, it worked great. If you do a search on my user name you will find pics too.

Wonder how that's so cheap?! My "light duty" grapple is about 1000lbs though.

I've looked close at the construction of these. It leaves a lot to be desired. What piece of equipment are you running that grapple on?

Valley, check out Jenkins Iron and Steel. Local company for me and great pricing. I bought one of their "skeleton" grapples last year for my Bobcat 773. Paid 2200 out the door. they offer free delivery to the lower 48 but i picked mine up. I have a price list on my wall from last year and the "brush grapple" like you show is ranged from $2000-$2300.

My current favorite grapple is a "root grapple" style. bought mine on a consignment auction for 1200. it was made by another close (WI) company and labled "Stout".

Very happy with this one. mine is the 66-9 as in 66" wide and 9" tine spacing. strong steel and held up well through my abuse. if i had any stronger machine id get the HD72-4 or the HD84-6

Needed help pulling out a big burr oak trunk next to a house and next to a bottomless hill. The weight was not a problem. Getting a good grip was.

Had to bring out the wood length ways. Should have cut them smaller but more chance of losing a round down the long slope.

Both bmg grapples

@sam-tip , How do you like the turf tires? I was going to get some for my skid steer but couldnt find enough info on them to make an informed decision. they ply rating seemed a bit low

I got the tires/rims from Bobcat and the tires are 10 ply. Made in China. I also have the construction tire on other rims. 15 min to switch tires by myself. I really like them. Much smoother ride. They are on a A300 all wheel steer machine. Try not to damage any lawns. I have used them on golf courses with no problems or damage. One golf course here also has a set of turf tires. He says you could drive straight across the greens and not know it. Best on compacted surfaces. But if you turn the wheels while sitting still they will take a bite in the grass. Pretty good for a 10,000 machine hauling a 4000lb load. 2000lb tree spade and 2000 lb root ball/tree.

Not so good on greasy mud. When they fill with mud it is like driving on pure ice. And mud is never a flat surface. I have slid into a ditch and a dump trailer when the tires filled with very sloppy mud.
