I've been using these for a number of years and really like them. I don't think they are quite as durable as the Viking saw boots but they are infinitely more comfortable to hike in. They don't have steel toes which I think is a plus and lightens them up a bit. The LWs are much tougher than Extratufs.

Worn a pair but they were wore out when I got em. Have worn the vikings and did not like them. I have the regular Xtratuff and it's okay but no ankle support. I will probably go with either a Hoffman pack or Whites pack cork next go around for wet/snow/winter use. Otherwise I just wear my leathers even when it's moderately rainy. Next leathers will either be Vibergs or Kuliens with triconies and toe plates. Vibergs will be replaceable, Kuliens are punch in which may be a problem if I'm doing lot's of log quality.

Olympic, I never really had good luck with the Hoffman pacs. White might get better but I'm not giving them anymore of my money. I'm pretty fond of the full rubbers when it is wet out and you're standing in calf deep mud on the landing. If I sawed I think the xtratuffs would be the cats meow, but hooking is pretty tough on stuff. Now if they could only come out with a calk that could stand up to jumping in and out of the loader!

I have a set of the White's pacs. They are super-comfy but the heels are crap. They are hollow inside, and after awhile, you will punch the calk, base and all, into the open space below (above? whatever). I will get the heels replaced locally and then they will probably be about as good as winter boots are gonna get.

Gotcha. Maybe the Meindels from Hoffmans would be a good choice. I can attest to the boot itself not how the caulking turns out from Hoffmans.
