My suggestion if to read the manual and follow Stihl's advice, written by the pros who engineered the saw and want it to work well for a very long time.
Check the chain tension frequently, it stretches when new (really!).
Schultzie has provided some great advice on safety. Use safety glasses, ear protection, good boots, chaps, gloves, helmet, clear the area where working, keep others away from the working area, be careful.
Maybe post a picture of your first adventures with it.
