If you are serious...My dealer has a nice 084 for sale. New clutch and drum. Been checked out and looks nice. Its used, looks like its spent more time sitting in the truck than being used, plastic is faded and the muffler has surface rust, but nothing abnormal for the 088/084's Ive seen.

He wants $700 for it, I believe it had a 30" bar with .404 on it.
Ok not te deal I would be looking for. thanks anyway.
I'll keep my mind on a 390xp for that price

SO whats the cost for blades for the ripsaw

I seem to recall $18 or $20 apiece.

Consensus is you can get about 400 - 600 BF before sharpening, and each band you can sharpen once. I dont have first hand knowledge, just what Ive heard.

figure about two hours run time. that is if you want to sharpen it.
bandsaws have a lot of hidden cost.
Like where would you get the blade sharpened. shipping cost ect.
just food for thought.

Thats not a bad idea...but youre still listening to a gen rumble along....

But you can quiet that with a real muffler... find one on the high way if you have too:) Anyhow, what does it matter - you'll have ear gear on, and no fumes!

Yes, but cost of blades will be more than made up by not turning your lumber to dust.

I would learn how to sharpen a bandsaw blade. And there are places you can find locally to make them cheaper than you can buy them pre-made.

I was thinking something along that line.
Also would like to hear more about your ideas on sharping your own blades
now you would have to buy a sharpener and setter.
Now you have to buy stones.
you have someone down there that sells blades. maybe they could sharpen them for you.
More hidden cost.
Are you planning on selling this wood?
Just trying to pick your brain.

How about free peanut oil from the local INGcredible?

I can filter it and run it like a diesel, cant I?

That's a thought. It'd be the first time that something worthwhile came out of that place. I think that their chicken is 99% junk and 1% meat. Tried that place a couple times, crappy each time I went, so I won't go back. When it's time for Chinese, it's all about Gourmet Village now.

I believe woodshop has a jig he uses his dremel with to sharpen the blades for his RipSaw. I have the Dremel, and I think the jig can be bought from the RipSaw website.

As for what to do with the lumber...sure Ill attempt to sell some of it. Some of it I will use once I get more space to have a decent shop. The milling for me is more of "me time." I enjoy staying active, and cutting wood in the driveway means Im not at the bar, or nudie club.

If you have no wood to cut wax the hell out of it and mount it on your hood of the truck.Bar pointing forward. This will look a lot better then those cattle horns that the pimps use in Texas!

I started to post that I didn't believe that you read them all until I saw the disclaimer. That thread was insane. If you stepped away for a couple days catching up was impossible. Kind of like college calculus. Well maybe not really....

I do agree the 441 is largely a welcome trend. Now if they can make the stratos a little lighter then we are really on the way.
