How's everybody like the new cat.? I traded in my Master for a Sherrill/Buck.,Was this unwise? The master is immpossible to wear with winter clothes. I may get used to the 4-d buck wideback, but, I hate the way both saddles will twist on your body, depending on on how ya tie in. I need a floating D seat type, or maybe with leg freedom.
I will trade anybody out there a Master & a Sherril/Buckinham wideback-4D for a floating D saddle. I hate all saddles that have friction buckles. I can't safeley modify my Master to perform like the Glide can I?OH YEAH!, both are size large. HELP YOUR LOCAL CHERRY! thanx for any advice

B.T.W., I imagine everybody here loves Sherrill, and so do I, they offer free info to the uninformed. Not bashing them ya know. Anybody understand that other bowline? Is it at all better than the running bowline? Can't possibly be easier to tie or untie right? Even the newest groundie can untie it if you used the dumbest groundie with the heaviest load. Oh yeah, if you need a dumb groundie, I could introduce you to one of my bosses. I'd be impressed if he answered the ???? phone right.

I don't want to step out of line, but I tell every boss I meet, that they might find themselves scratching their heads, wondering what I'm doing with a Whoopie! sling, biner, and steel block. This semi-boss dismisses everything I do more than throwing a rope through a crotch, as new school, hippie, b*%$sh@#. This is my same boss who can't sharpen his 044, or 066mag. When I rope a log or branch, and he gets a wrap, the peice I cut will swing away from me. He takes so long to let it down, that it swings back and whacks me. Get a new boss right? I figured if he was smart enough to get a tree care business off the ground, he was smart enough to maintain his company.WRONG! I wanna know how the hell this numbnuts got insurance in the first place! I could go on and on.Who's hiring?

No, but now I want one ASAP. even if I did, I would only be able to photo the rollin bowline from the cat. I got the runnin bowline drilled into me

The Rollin' Bowlin is a slipped slip knot. Seems like a good variation. The only concern would be if something snagged the final bight, that it would unravel.

When I tie off brush loads I tie the rope slipped with a similar bight. By adding another half hitch over the bight it is locked too. I've never had one loosen as long as I set it properly.

Very nice display of new toys and information sources under "New Products" on the Sherrill website by clicking their banner at top of our site pages.

New climbing cam devices, ropes, rigging software, books from Volumes of previously published articles from the Arborist News and Certification Today magazines covering specific areas of safety, biology, selection, maintannace, ; other books , line bags etc.

Who's hiring? Me.

I didn't like the friction buckles either. Just unloaded my Master II, went back to a 3-dee Weaver.

Sounds like if you want to learn progressive "new-age hippie" climbing, you'll have to go somewhere where it'd be appreciated.

Does your boss understand how much longer a rope lasts when you use a block and sling versus a natural crotch?

Longer lasting = less overhead = more $ in his pocket.

Sherrill is okay, but I use others too, like Oklahoma Arborist Supply (also a site sponsor).

rollin bowlin

Ive never seen this one before. Looks kind of scary. Of all the knots ive ever been afraid of failing, this has to take the cake. Seems like the time spent tying, dressing, ..... groundie untieing, I could be on the next cut w/ the regular running bowline.

BUT, just like anything else new, I need to give it its proper chance first.

To untie, simply pull the tail, and the whole knot collapses to nothing (unlike slipped bowline, where there is still the turn around the rope).

I will give it a try also, AFTER I get my catalog:D.
