No need to shoehorn a big block into a 70 Chevelle, plenty of room in that engine bay. Even the Nova & Camaro's are easy. Now the Vega was a bit tighter.Only if the 454 you shoehorn in was made at several different Chinese tractor factories and half of each cylinder liner is missing- then you might have a legitimate argument.
I loved the old Chevys. Most everything would bolt right in. Go from a 230 I-6 w/powerglide to a 454 w/muncie.No need to shoehorn a big block into a 70 Chevelle, plenty of room in that engine bay. Even the Nova & Camaro's are easy. Now the Vega was a bit tighter.

I put a muncie w/hurst shifter from a Vette into a C10 truck I had.
I was trying to point out the old Chevys, and old GMs parts would swap out/interchange easy, bolt right in. Unlike Fords and Mopars.Yes super duper- but you are talking about putting a Chev motor into a Chev car to upgrade.
Bit like bolting a Stihl 066 top end onto a Stihl 064 chassis and bottom end- still OEM but not a factory option.
Not buying a Chev copy, adding some Chev bits and calling it good.
We had much better options over here- we had real Aussie Holdens and the steering wheels were already on the correct side!
When Tecomec still made parts in Italy, it was OEM quality. I've used the P/C kits for 038S -----> 038M conversions.Your right there isn't much that meets oem but there is some
Why put a OEM cylinder on a china saw makes no sense? the cylinder kit would be worth more than the sawYall talked me into it I ordered stihl oem 880 cylinder and piston yall made some good points that I agree with the quality control thing big point there this is a monster saw can't really take chances with it
Yes, a trashed Stihl is a better starting point. Why put a OEM cylinder on a china saw makes no sense? the cylinder kit would be worth more than the saw
