New Stihl in the family

I was able to pick up a Stihl 046 Mag I saw in the local newspaper yesterday. Thanks to Ryan Willock for giving me some inspection tips. Saw needed the air filter cleaned, chain sharpened, and the burrs filed from the bar edges (will need a new bar, chain and rim sprocket soon). Runs like a champ. Plastic is shiney and new looking. Piston walls looked fine and the cross-hatching in the cylinder was still visible. Seller came down a little on the price, too. It's a good day! Will be a nice companion to my 036. I hope the wife is as excited as I (believe it or not, she generally is).

Stihl 046M

I got her for $350 with case, manual and wrenches. Not bad, but not a steal either, I reckon. I am happy, so that is what counts.

I would consider that a Stihl considering they go for around 650-700.00 bucks new and that does'nt include a case either you got a very good deal..

Hey you got a good deal on that, enjoy your new saw. I got a good deal on my 044 I know the manager at the pawn shop and he sold me a like new 044 for $150 bucks! Thats the saw that started my Stihl love affair LOL.

Not a bad deal at $350. I just stood around all day at a auction yesterday to watch two guys run a 044/20" up to $430. It was well used. I did not want it but I just wondered what they were worth. The back-up bidder wass tanding next to me. When he did not get the saw I told hime I would sell him one of mine for $350.

Great news on the new toy,sharpen that chain,blow out that filter
and have at it.
By the way.....I soaked the fiber filter in my newly aquired husky 45 for 10 minutes in Oxy Clean.Removed it from the solution,blew it dry with compressed air and you couldnt tell it from new.
