Grabbed a used but in good shape New Holland conveyor today for a handshake- going to replace a few things on it - 24 ft so not to big which is what will work best for my situation. Some customizing between the the TW5 and the chute are in the works so it will be really fluid going from one to the other. My plan now is to weld up some kiln boxes - 4x4x8 so it will hold almost a cord and will be stackable. Then I can split wood right into the boxes at the end of the year and let them season - then bring to house with the tractor. Trying to get te least amount of touches I can. Old age =lazy ! 00404_cCmZF4iKTsA_1200x900.jpgfill_basket1.jpgfill_basket1.jpg

The guy I bought it from said the 24 ft was to small for commercial firewood guys because you cant load a 10 wheeler with it - it will reach to the top of bed but wont get to the middle. For me its perfect for my dump trailer and bins - plus its small enough to move around

yeah im leaning that way - its just a gen is a lot more than a 2hp harbor freight special gas engine. Question for you - how often does yours jam ? do you keep the gen next to splitter and run an ext cord so you can unplug it quick ? or is that not really a concern ?

Huh, I load my 10 wheeler with a 20ft conveyor. 25ft would be ideal though.

captjack, I have the genny about 10' from the conveyor. I wired in a house Decora style light switch to the electrical motor and mounted it on the side of the conveyor at an easy height to reach from where I stand at the splitter. It's easy to reach and shut it off quick. I also keep the belt loose on purpose so that if 2 splits jamb it will actually just slip the belt instead of trying to stall the motor. I was going to mount the switch right on the splitter beside the splitter valve but I use the conveyor with my other splitters and thought it would be easier if the switch was mounted on the conveyor so I would always be used to reaching to the same spot each time.

This is how I have had my last 2 conveyors wired up. We have power where we split so we hard wired a 50' cord to the elevator. There is a switch on each side of the elevator so you can safely turn it off in a hurry when a split gets stuck no matter which side you are on when it happens. We have an outlet on each side as well to run the grinder when the rivets for the paddles come loose as well.
