I sold the 295 you were interested in and put the proceeds in the pot for Joe to offset his costs. However, I did have something else for you and will bring it to next GTG we both attend.

That's ok, no problem there, good to add to the host pot.

Hopefully nothing gets in the way of the OH gtg next month....

Might have a gear drive here in the near future to play with there.

That one is looking iffy at best, got word on Thursday that my father in law and his girlfriend will be here over that weekend.

Hey Wingnut, you said it was doing well earlier, did you check the oil hole in the bar to make sure it didn't get plugged up?

Yessir! I started there , then began working my way back. BTW, it was clear.

How was the GTG?

You will have to ask Ted!

I had some things come up and wasn't able to make it.

For my first GTG, it was great! Great fun, great company and good to finally put faces on the names.

Tim, you really need to get to one ... well worth the ride! I'm already looking for an opportunity to go to another one.

That's my plan. Got the passport renewed.

With all the talk about 295's I figured I'd pick one up. I managed to find one locally for not much. I looks as if it has very few hours on it as it was returned to the dealer when the purchaser broke the clutch cover. It feels like it has a lot of compression and it fired right up. Apparently the oiler oils intermittently so I'll check that out and the clutch cover was replaced with a Jeremiah Johnson one.
Too much bar, 20" .325.

These are very nice saws Tim.I have a 2775 that had a fried p/c and i just replaced it with a oem from a 4620.The oiler does not put as much oil as i would like, the 2250 oils better but do the job.To be honest i tested it with the 20" bar so maybe the bar was to much for the oil pump, not sure. Now i twisted it to 3/8 18",we'll see.If you get it,be sure to seal where the air filter contact the adapter. The 2775 had nothing between the air filter and the adapter and i noticed that saw dust was getting in the engine,a lot of saw dust.I've seen that the 4620 have something like foam in there,i don't know if the 295's are the same.

Thanks Kostas. I'll check the filter to adaptor. I think it will get a 16" bar and a new clutch cover. I will get to it later today. Long weekend here and I have chores to do.

Hey! are these things any good???

For those of you that have done a muffler mod on a 295.
Mine has a one piece muffler so I went in through the exhaust port in the back of the muffler and ground a slot in the divider between the top and bottom halves and opened it with a screwdriver and then added a small port (like a mini 4000 port) on the left side in the top half of the muffler. That should get the exhaust gas flowing better.

The question is; the heat shield that fits inside the exhaust port in the cylinder looks like one more restriction. Did you guys leave the shield in or trash it?
I kind of figure that a free flowing muffler should run a lot cooler.

Thanks

Those are good saws. I remember in the 90s you could pick them up all day at big box stores for 89 bucks on sale and they would last for god knows how many hours. If I would have known about what kinda saws were being produced now back then, I would have saved up and bought about ten 295s to last me the rest of my life :) I use to have one that I traded for a 3400. It was a good trade but I miss her a little.

I'd leave it then it makes cleaning the carbon outta the port 100x easier because you just pop it out and scrub it. If you have your muffler opened up good then it should not matter if you leave it in or not. All it would do is make a tiny difference in performance.

Congrats, ya finally got it.....

Yep, been looking for one of these for awhile. Will make a nice companion to my 71-A

Really nice shape. Looks like the owner took good care of it.

Yeah it is from that side but the recoil cover is in not good shape. Been busted up and I will be looking for a replacement whenever I can find one.

Its setup for 1/2" chain but I need to see what bar I want to run on it. I would like to find another 31" like on my 71-A but there hard to find. Might use this old bow I got here on it...
