Roger, I need to repair a crack in a clutch cover, can I move the magnesium with heat or am I liley to break it?

Thanks
Tim

Your going to need a Tig welder I am afraid. If you apply plain heat there is a chance it could catch fire. So magnesium filler rod and a Tig welder is the best way that I know of.

I know that shipping from up north is probably expensive and unless it is something rare or NLA it is not going to be cost effective or else I would weld it up for you.

I'm still wading through all the stacked up emails from when I was away for the PNW GTG. Didn't see the notification for this listing until it was already sold. Interesting setup...

Yowza, that's even more bad-ass than the Hilti GP-22 sitting under my workbench

Ol' Red runs pretty good though she may piddle on you (the MoreTrashDaily ...err MTD fuel cap doesn't quite fit as well as a proper Kawa cap...), or bite you (ignition wire rotted a wee bit... *g*), and she sure does bark with the invisible muffler ;-) (anybody have any Kawasaki KT-12AD spares laying around?)

Oh, and Hilti's starting procedure could've used a little work - "Pump primer bulb till fuel flows out of overflow hose, then press and release choke (sic) button...) Sheesh, why not route the purge line back to the tank? (and Walbro is right, you do need to hold the *Start* button down 3-4 seconds with the WZ carb if you want an easy start)

If you already have a 3400 you could use the P/C from the 4000 and build your own sleeper.
I see builders on the forum here doing it all the time. Take an old gray craftsman 3400 and put a 4000 top end on it with some porting and watch it fly through the wood.

It looks like fun to me.

Kinda like this one. Thats exactly what I did with this one I put together for a friend of mine. I used a Craftsman 3.4 case, a 4000 P/C, and mostly 3400 parts. I did find a Air cleaner for it. I did not port it though. I ain't smart enough for that. I could have ground the heck out of it, but then i would have just ended up with junk I'm afraid.:msp_ohmy:

Wasn't ment to be a sleeper, just wanted to make him something with a little more gitty-up than his Wildthings have. Looks were not a priority, just make it usable..LOL When I was checking compression on my saws couple weeks ago, this one had 150 LBS. Runs great, just looks a little odd.

Thanks Roger. There would be nothing like a magnesium fire to brighten up my day. I can likely fix it without heat. I don't think it's worth sending it to you but thanks very much for the offer.

can that same stuff be used for carbs? interested. may be in. what is the unit price per square foot?

The member that put me onto it said he uses the 0.010" for carb gaskets. this stuff is 0.017" thick.

The price quote is as follows

QUOTING:

MATERIAL: Nitrile/ Nylon Inserted Diaphragm

.017" THK. x 60" WIDE

3 LIN FT. MIN. @ $48.50/PER LIN FT.

DELIVERY: 7 TO 10 WORKING DAYS TO SHIP ARO

FOB: DEER PARK NY 11729

TERMS: CREDIT CARD

Thank you &

So, that price is for 15 Sq ft. If we got ten parties interested that would be a little less than $15 ea plus shipping costs for 1 1/2 sq ft ea.
That's a lot of oil pump diaphragms.
The only thing I can't guarantee is that it will work. I know the same stuff at 0.010" worked for carb diaphragms for the member who put me onto the material.

If a bunch of people want to take a chance I'm in. I have another supplier I'm waiting on for a quote as well.

I would be happy to make the purchase and cut and mail out the sheets. As far as postage goes, believe it or not I can ship a saw to California via Canada Post and USPS for less than it can be shipped from mid Ohio via USPS.

I will keep searching to see if I can find a small quantity to try out first.
