Just a thought... Laser cutting and etching is getting sorta common in places.
water jetting seems it might have some setup matters that (I'm totally guessing here)
might be cumbersome to work with for this stock.
but the laser stuff looks interesting nowdays.
you might find a local hobbiest group ("Hackerspace") that could do a scan of diaph
and turn the photons loose, to good effect.

these guys are already working in wood cutting and other things that might surprise you.
and they're even building some of the rig itself from wood.
Some links to my favorite "how to ...." site.

Just watch the comments sections, They DON'T filter language nearly as much as Arboristsite does
so be advised if you web surf from a place where that would matter.
Homebuilt Laser Cutter Ideas

I'll bet that homemade, laser powered stencil cutter would knock these out easily.

Don't listen to the fellow from Wheatfield, :tongue2: the Mac is good Craigslist fodder. Open up the muffler, more and bigger holes.

Typical broken oil tank neck. Check Overtrained, he likes 'em and should have leftovers.

Really, I had some of those and threw them away. Who would have thunk someone would actually pay even a dollar for one. :ices_rofl:

Oh and I forgot to mention, the starter rope is held in with what looks like the filed down head of a nail. i melt the end, stick it in....and it rips out everytime.

Oh, and what would you guys use to seal the gas tank? the sealent i have isnt rated for gasoline.

Mark what I do is hold a small finishing nail with a pair of pliers and heat it with a torch. I then push it through the starter cord about 1/4" from the end. Let it cool a tad and then push it the rest of the way through until the head seats against the cord. Then cut off the end of the nail leaving about 1/8" sticking out of the cord. Pull the cord through the hole until the nail is seated, with the head facing up.

when I left the house in the morning I thought I as going to buy a $50 chainsaw. After buying the 2 little saws for $2 I only had $48 left. I asked the guy if he would take $40 for his $50 saw and he said no but he was tired of answering the phone so he would take $45 for it. Cool. I went to the yard sale with $3 in my pocket. The Machinist tools and the box was marked $100. I said well I don't have $100 with me (true statement) would you take $75 for it. The guy said no but $85 would buy it. I said my wife can write you a check or I can go to the ATM that is 1 mile away. He said O.K. he preferred cash.

I rushed to the drive up ATM and there were 6 people in line. It didn't move for 10 minutes, it seems the machine ate a woman's card and she wouldn't accept the fact that there was nothing she could do to get it back. She called the bank and finally moved out of the way. Time seemed to be rushing by. 3 people gave up and left. I spent about 45 minutes getting the money, I kept thinking, the guy is going to think I am not coming back. He is a retired machinist and is well aware of the cost and value of those tools. He told me I was getting a great deal. I thanked him profusely. I have wanted tools like that forever but could never justify the expense for a part time hack mechanic like myself. I would think that there is well over a thousand dollars worth of tools in that box.

The two boxes alone probably wouldn't be had for $500. They ain't cheap. I got a top box like that for $10 at a flea market. A guy ahead of me was trying to beat him down to 5. I didn't argue :)

Sometimes it's best NOT to look a gift horse in the mouth..........just pay the price and be thankful you got it for that....

The awesome series of Poulan saws known as the, 3400, 3700, 3800, 4000, 395 and I believe there might be one or two more that use that diaphragm for the oiler.

Got couple of them. Would be nice to have a solution sitting in the file. Hey fossil count me in if youre still counting. I can send $$ or money order just say where and how much
