Thank you. I'd been looking for a long while for one. I switched the .325 rim back to 3/8's but all I had on hand was 8 pin. How do you think that will work out if I put a 24" bar on it?

I have 8 pins on two 77 cc red saws and they don't even know the wood is there.
I was going to try one on the 5200 if I ever get through all my projects.

A few pictures of the 4400 I picked up today, it has 175 pounds of compression and cranked right up.

Thanks to Joe, I got another great 4000 here now. I really wasn't after another 4000 but decided I cant let Gregg have them all. :hmm3grin2orange:

He told me it needed a little bit so I tore it apart today and gave it the once over. It needed a crank seal for sure but its all back together now and running like a good 4000 is suppose to.

I put a 24" bar and chain on it to give it a shake down and it walked the dog with it.

Is that a Windsor bar?
Poulan Canada saw or just the chain brake?

And it looks bada$$ with that nos Poulan bar on it! Nice work. Which seal was bad? I'm sure you replaced both. A little history on that saw, I bought it off the original owner who bought it new in '84 for I want to say over $400.

That is nice with the chain brake and the decal looks new. Although I have ran my 395 with and without the chain brake and I can tell a big difference in the over all weight.

Yes that's a Poulan branded Windsor speed tip 24" bar.

As for the saws origin? I don't know, the decal would have been on that little half hand guard/heat shield and its missing. The chain brake decal does say Canada on it but who knows if that's original to the saw or not.

The dealer purchased / installed chain brakes I've seen are generic and only indicate "counter vibe chain brake" but no model number is listed so the label can be used across the series of saws so I suspect it came with the saw.
Listen closely to it when it's idling and see if you can hear it singing Frère Jacques or yodelling Eh Eh Eh Ehhhhhhhhhh.

It was singing ok, sounded like Bruce Springsteen singing "Born in the USA" :ices_rofl:

Both seals were actually leaking PTO side the worse of the two.

That saw was worth every bit of $400 in 84 compared to its competition,.

You know, its kind of funny or ironic, the last Oregon Power Match bar I had was made in Canada.
A Windsor Speed Tip bar I have was made in USA. :msp_ohmy:

Gregg,

Mark that 4000 turned out great. You received yours at about the same time that my 4000 came to me from Joe. I'm surprised your saw sits upright with a 24" bar. I put a 24" Windsor like that (but not pretty and new) on my 4000 and it now noses forward. Was thinking it needs a spike with an extended bottom dawg like the "HD" spike for the 4200-8500 countervibes.

Look closer at that bar, its been around the block a few times. Yeah it sits up with that bar but it don't take much to make it nose over.

Just wanted to see the power of this one with a 24" on it, as I aint run one in a while now.

My first 4000 came from the PNW with a 28" on it. No doubt it done very well with it in that soft wood that they have up there. :hmm3grin2orange:

BTW you got a package coming this week...

Brake/clutch cover

I bought the clutch cover separate, that 4000 had a regular plastic cover on it. Those covers are a bit heavy but super constructed and it has 2 adjustment built into it.
$400 for that saw in 84 was a good deal. Alot of the competition were still selling saws designed in the 60s
Mark is the third owner. It was purchased at Gauvin power equipment Grafton mass USA.
Saw is Bruce Springsteen cover is Bryan Adams.
