That is a sweet looking saw there gregg! I must admit o like the look of the 330, 380 better. I have heard these were good performers. How do they rate among the competition? Also. Do these saws have the giladroni cylinders? Im sure I spelt that wrong!

Joe, I don't really mess with the competition.. LOL So that I can't tell ya. Its pretty much Poulan or bust with me. My 380 does have the Gilardoni cyl. I think the 3700 has more grunt, but the 380 has more chain speed. And is lighter. I had a video of me using my 380. I tried posting it again, but for some reason, I must not be smart enough to load it in this new forum format.:(

Gregg does the Super 380 use the same intake boot and carb as the 3750. I am inclined to think it does, but I have never been into or seen a 380 so I do not know for sure.

Joe me and another firewood cutter was out with my like new 3750 BB = 380 and my like new 262xp. 3/8 full comp rsc chain used. After cutting all day and swapping saws back and forth, we both preferred the 3750 over 262xp.

Only thing we noticed was 3750 had just a little less torque in cuts.

I was just curious. Its funny when I thought of a comparable saw I thought of the 262xp. Its a saw I wanted for a long time like I said. Some fine examples here too. I ran my pp330 against my bils 460 rancher, cant wait to run this one with it

Gregg, great running saw. Is that another big ash? The 380 is mid 60 cc's? Probably faster than a 4000?
Drivi
Bob

Ps: did a pressure test on my 295 and it leaked around the one piece seal. Used another crank that didn't have the worm gear, switched piston over and now I have to install the worm gear. Thinking of heating it a bit and driving it on with a socket. Hopefully I won't bugger it up.

Yes, that was some Ash, Bob. The PP380 is suppose to be 60cc. The 4000 is 64cc. As much as I like the 380, it is not close to a good 4000, at least in my opinion. The 4000 just has so much more torque, grunt, power, however you want to phase it. In smallish wood, I suppose there isn't a great deal of difference. The 380 is more like a bumble bee on steroids, the 4000 more like a old school muscle car. There is probably 2-3000 rpm difference in them.

Its just the way they come across to me anyway. Others might feel different. In all honesty, I could get just as much wood cut with the 380 as the 4000, with both wearing a 20" bar. I do keep one 4000 with a 24" bar on it, for some use. I doubt the 380 would handle a 24 incher in larger wood very well. Just my guess. All these observations, are just my experience as an old geezer using both to cut a lot of firewood. I have not set up both and tried to time them, or anything like that. I'll leave that test work up to JeremiahJohnson....LOL :D

Gregg,

While I'm thinking about cutting wood...LOL The difference in a 4000 at 64cc isn't a great deal off from a 4200, at 69cc. But, There is a huge difference in the power between those also. I guess a lot of it just depends on the design and how they make their power. I'm just guessing, that if a 4000 was reed valve inducted, it might be a closer gap. Just rambling here... its cold, wet, snowy and crappy here...LOL Good AS day.

Here is one I found, by in my archives...LOL Was several years ago, I did this at least 3 times, this is the only video I saved. I ran my PP380 (60cc) in some Oak, against my 3700 (61cc). While its just a highly unscientific test, LOL it don't lie. I didn't have someone with a stop watch available, so I just timed them from the videos. In every case, the 3700 was faster. Not night & day faster, but faster. ;) So I'm guessing it would be no different, maybe even a wider gap with a 4000.

I felt the same way about my 3600 against my 3700. The 3700 felt like it had more power in wood with the bars buried.
The 3600 has the same P&C as the 380 although I don't know about the carb and boot.
Both great running saws.

3600 3500 365 have 49 smaller carb and small intake compared to 380 330 etc.

OhioGregg,
What's wrong with you.....?
You know I am looking to get rid of my 3700 in mkt, and what do you do....
Sure, it's not a clock clean....but it even sounds better....
This should be easy...why do you guys make it so hard.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner on this very generous offer. The NOS 3.7 is still sitting here, UNFIRED, and really un-everything. I am in no immediate need to cut wood, and I have even been looking looking for just a recreational use saw again on CL. I do think this saw belongs in the hands of someone who appreciates what it is, and I have not done anything, including even changing the fuel line, to it. No need to do that stuff if it is going to be a display model and I don't want to damage anything in any way....even marks on the bolt heads.

I need to post it up in the "for sale" area and take best offers to see what the level of interest is. From there I can decide if it is worth it to me to sell it or just hang on to it. I would think something like a basic saw that works, nothing fancy, and anywhere from a 14" to 18" might do the job. The cosmetic condition is not important to me, only that I don't have to screw with it trying to get it started or keep it running, are the important things. Add to that some financial consideration (cash ..lol) and we might be good to go. Anyway that is the plan....and I would never pop it's cherry before exhausting every possibility. Even thought about Ebay, but I don't want a straight auction as I might get a low sale price. Might run it with a reserve price...but those generally do not get enough bidding. If someone wants to make an offer, cash, or cash and saw, or ???, feel free to PM me.

I figured I should repost one of the pics, just so you guys wouldn't forget about it....
BTW....I wonder how much that thing would shine with a careful wax job....or even a good wipedown.

See Bow...I got one just like yours..well, almost. :D Thats why everyone wants you to keep it NEW. Ya start using them, they end up looking like this.. LOL This midsize old Poulan saws, I have used for so long, they just fit me. I'll admit that there are newer saws that will cut a little faster...be a little lighter...maybe even be a little more sexxy. But, they aren't going to be any more reliable than these old time proven saws from Poulan. Maybe I'm just stubborn. :)

We're trying to make it easier for you. Everyone here knows all the defect, cracked parts and junk pieces went into the Crapsman saws... OOPs

I see Fossil is trying to save me from a terrible decision...;)...and by the way....I already vacuumed up all those cracked and junk pieces...so no one will ever know. And I think I will call the casing "rugged plastic, rather than that flimsy metal Sears used.

Now...OhioGregg....
First I view your video....and happen to notice and think.....How in the hell did he get that heavy log over there?
Then you post a pic of your saw on monster trees! What, dare I ask is the size of your wood burner...lol

Here's my firewood (care of an internet pic) and I think I dropped a nut just stacking it.
13523112-big-pile-of-cut-tree-trunks-in-the-sun.jpg I would insult you more, but dad never raised a total fool.
