My PP295 is back together. Used 4620 P&C with new rings. Comp 150 after install. Think I have a carb problem, however. Will not start unless I put fuel in the cylinder. Then it will start and run. Even restarts if warm. Sit for a while and it's no go. It's a Walbro wt 657 and was rebuilt previously, consequently I don't know if the correct diaphragms were used so I can compare. Seems to me the pump side isn't pumping fuel or the impulse passage on the saw is blocked( which I doubt). The fact that the carb is a pain to remove doesn't help.

I was thinking the same thing while workin on the 295 I just got. The carb setup is kind of a nuisance, and tests my patience. :( LOL I was thinking the same thing on that 3400 I just got too. The diaphragms in the kit that I bought, doesn't match exactly to what was in the carb. First time I have ever encountered that.

Gregg,

Those 295's are a walk in the park. Heck you can have an engine out in 15 minutes.

Sounds like carb rebuild time. On those I usually make my own gaskets for the carb to the intake and I make sure I have a clear shot for the impulse.

150 psi is good and is what I got after putting in a new piston and ring.

Yea, I did rebuild the carb. However not sure which diaphragms to use as the carb was rebuilt earleir and matching that pump side diaphragm it won't even pop.

Reed v

reed valves?

On one side of the carb is a diaphragm that moves the needle up and down to control fuel.
On the other side of the carb is a piece that goes in there that usually has two small round areas that can act as a valve. Much the same way as a reed valve works. If those do not match up it will either allow fuel or not in places where it should not be. I have noticed when those small pieces get hard and brittle the carb will not run right even if you do have a good diaphragm. At least that is my understanding of how it works. I could be wrong if someone else knows better.

+1 even if it looks ok the little flaps gotta lay flat over the holes for it to pump

Nice two sets. Did I ever mention we were buddies.:clap:

Just helping someone in need of parts and they repaid with more then I could imagine.

Your 1st in line for trades or whatever we work out. ;)

Heck dont even own a 4000 anymore. Now to find those thin rings for 335 just for chits

I appreciate it but I actually have a pair myself that I am saving for the next project. You never know when a 4000 or a PP395 might show up needing a set. Those 335 thin rings should be easy to find.

This is actually the one I was referring to. Not 100% sure it's a 3.7, but intend to find out! And I think your fuel line is going to be 3/16 I.D. x 1/4 O.D. and I go with the Tygon. If you haven't found the 36 page manual with the IPL included, shoot me a conversation message with your email address and I'll send it your way.

Just as an update, I ended up getting hosed on this one. Guy said he'd hold it for me for a day, then his phone started ringing...sheer coincidence, right? Guess that's what I get for posting the info in the first place...

Anyone here get it?

If there is something I am interested in buying I just keep it to myself until I get the item or someone else does.
It could be an item that I spotted on ebay from day one and I really do not want to hurt someones feelings by bidding against them, especially when they may believe they saw it first and that somehow gives them the right to it.

Yep if I post a link or tell folks in a thread. I'm hoping someone else will buy it. That way I dont have to keep saying no no no to the little guy on my shoulder.

Just like the NIB 330 for $200 and xtr new 60cc topend for $260 total o_O;)

When you come across some big poulans, let me be the first to get rid of that little dude for you!
