8500 would be great, but they seem fairly tough to find. Was thinking 4000 & up? A project type piece on the cheap or should I say not top money? I may have a sniff on a 5.2 craftsman, but maybe not?

If there is something I am interested in buying I just keep it to myself until I get the item or someone else does.
It could be an item that I spotted on ebay from day one and I really do not want to hurt someones feelings by bidding against them, especially when they may believe they saw it first and that somehow gives them the right to it.

I hear ya. I needed it like a hole in the head, so maybe it was my own subconscious way of denying myself the opportunity anyway. No sour grapes here, just a little disappointment in the seller's lack of integrity. Just wondered if someone here was lucky enough to snag it. It's not every day you see two 3.7's in such good shape in my neck o' the woods!

I got a PP4620 AVX (the tooless chain adjustment wonder) to rebuild for next to nothing. After new fuel lines and a carb kit, it runs very well, but I really can't stand the bar kind of flopping around because of the wimpy tooless adjuster. Feels like it would cut pretty good if the bar were clamped down well. I've heard they can be easily converted to a normal chain cover. Looking over the IPL it looks like all it may need is the cover/brake assembly off a PP295 or PP 4620 AVL: P/N 530054819 and a couple of bar nuts, Does anyone know if this is all that's needed? Does that part contain the chain adjuster? I can't find any other numbers for the chain adjustment parts. Would be pretty cost effective if that's all it took.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yup, the chain adjuster is part of the clutch cover/chainbrake assembly. Fleabag has some and I believe it's the whole unit. I just put a 4620 P&C on my PP295. However I have a 16" bar, not 20".

Finally got my Pp295 running. Changed pump side diaphragms(just guessed as to which one was correct) and it started up. I know the Lo needle is open much more than the Hi. Idles good and revs out at around 13,000. Seems to be 4stroking. One thing I noticed is that it throws a lot of oil. One question for you chain/ sprocket guys. I put my Pp325 bar and chain on the 295 and it fits very well. The Oregon bar for the 325 is the k095 mount whereas the 295 is the a041. Seems they are very similar. Also wish I could get a 3/8 Lo pro sprocket rather than the .325.

Was that the one in ohio for 75 bones?

No, the one Im talking about is a different saw not nos. If you search the cleveland ohio craigslist for a 3.7 craftsman its there with a case, but is a different photo than what pogo posted.

S25DA, i finally got around to building another S25DA with the boxes of parts i have. Turned out very nice, needed to clean and reset the points and clean the carb (tillitson), put together a muffler for it and new fuel line, filter etc. I put a 10 inch Poulan bar and chain i had laying around. She runs pretty good and looks nice as well. pics to come soon.

It'll rip with a 10'' bar.

Finally got the ported Craftsman 3.3 back together. Started up, idles and revs very nice. I don't fool with videos much, but I will for this one. I have been all smiles this evening. Purchased this saw as a non runner. New impulse, machined base, decked piston, port work, and some muffler work... and I believe we have a winner. Very, very good sounding saw. Too late to throw a bar and chain on, but hopefully some time this week. Feel like I haven't had much time for anything the last couple weeks, but wanted to get this saw back together and tonight we made it happen.

I actually posted pics of both saws and was indeed on the NOS one like white on rice. No phone contact info in that listing so everything was subject to the CL email contact drill...which leaves much to be desired. Bow got there first.

Then another one showed up...used but in great shape and the guy was also selling a fairly nice Micro XXV along with it. Those pics got posted here as well.

Both of the 3.7's were priced at $75 and may be where the confusion lies.

Regardless, ain't neither one of em mine even though I was on top of both of em out of the box. Happens that way sometimes....

Sorry you didn't get that NOS one Pogo. That was a great find.

So I guess the one linked is gone & the guy didn't delete his add?

Pro what did you do to "deck the piston"?

Eh, improper slang on my behalf. Just meant that I took off .005 from the top of the piston (for cleanup and a little polishing). There is plenty of meat between the top of the piston and the ring land, and the piston needed a little cleaning up. I could have left it alone, but was more comfortable with .024 in lieu of .019.
