I think I am down to needing a bolt for the front handlebar (one of the 2 underneath the saw) and an air filter. I have one in a box, but it is back in VA.

Kevin, you still need parts off the Echo 452?

No on AF or you meaning AF cover? Might have all the bolts.

1 452 needs a handle, original owner cut through it cutting it out of a hang up way back :laugh:. Have 2 452 runners, 1 with good handle. So it's no biggie. Just if I stumble or trade for one I would.
They just set in the echo shelf section never getting used.

Another Canadian 3400 Aberation

I spent a little time putting a new fuel and vent line and a carb kit in the 56 cc Mastercraft chainsaw.
I also had to scrape some paint of on the on / off switch area to ground the switch case as it was not grounding the coil.
The saw is really snappy. It does look as if it's had very little use. The spur is almost new and the screws show no signs of being touched. The fuel line looked original or at least very old and was broken off about an inch from the top of the tank. It is a thick ring saw with plated piston and plain bore. I checked the compression. My other 3400's read 120 lbs to 130 lbs. This one reads 150 lbs.
I checked the bore with the somewhat accurate tongue depressor and it's 1.87" in which would indicate to me that the top end is a 3800.
I like these mix and match saws.

Tim I'm beginning to wonder if any "real" 3400's were ever sold up there in the GWN. Seems that every "3400" you fellows north of the border unearth turns out to actually be a 3700, 3800, or 4000 in sheep's clothing...:D

I am still searching a 4000 in whatever form it comes to me. I'm always hoping it will be a 3400 XP. 4000's rarely come up for sale and hardly ever near me. There is one for sale within an hour right now but the price is $265. It's been repainted the wrong color, the spike is wrong and I don't see a side port on the muffler. I'm not sure if that port was there on all of the 4000's or not. If I'm going to pay that kind of money it needs to be original and in really good condition.

Anyhow, it is always a pleasant surprise to pick up a low priced saw and find out you got more than you bargained for on the upside.
Funny about the Mastercraft. It came with an Oregon 18" 0.50 ga Power Match bar in good shape and one of those booger Vanguard chains.
The guy calls and leaves me a message that he really didn't intend to sell the bar with the saw as it was worth $50 - $60 and would I bring it back so he could use it on his new little Stihl that he bought. The bar is D176. I phoned him back to tell him to whatever but by then he realized it wouldn't fit.

I would have called him back ok, but just to tell him to go pound sand up his ***

Interesting to hear about the bore size on that one. Would love to see the IPL for that saw.

There was a DIRTY 4000 (missing the clutch cover) on feebay yesterday. Starting bid was something like $15............but the shipping was around $80 to me. Put it in my watch list. Was gonna contact the seller to see if we could work out more reasonable shipping. An hour or so later the auction had ended (guess I didn't look at the ending date/time) with one bid. Must have been a very short listing, as I'd just gotten notification of a Poulan 4000 listing in my emails that day.

The description was very vague, with lots of 'wiggle room' for the seller to use later if the buyer is not happy. I also found his comment about the manual oiler assinine and irritating. Seller also has a less than stellar recent feedback rating. All his stuff looked crusty, like it was just drug out of a dank barn. I wasn't willing to pay close to $100 on a roached 4000 (even though the external parts looked good under the grime) as I already have a 4000 and a PP375. Somebody took the risk. Will see if it's somebody here....

It's good to see you finally have a day off work Mark.
I was just going to laugh at the seller and ask him if he was F'd in the head.
All the Canadian oddball saws out there and I have never been able to find an IPL for any of them.
Do any of the 3400 - 4000 series saws have PN's cast onto the cylinders? I've only had two off the saw and there was no PN on them that I could find.

Was not me.

I "think" technically, the ones on the left are pistols...and the ones on the right are revolvers. :D But, the terms get used interchangeably by most folks when talkin handguns. Just like some think Stihl's & Husqvarna's are real chainsaws. When we all know REAL chainsaws were GREEN and made in Shreveport La.

Gregg,

Gregg are those real wood grips on that CZ 52? How many "dots" does the top rail have? Do you have any real CZ ammo? Oh yeah, Yea Poulan!

I'm working on another 5200 here. I've got a few questions. It needs all 6 AV mounts. I understand that there's a Husky mount that will work. Are these them? http://www.baileysonline.com/Chains...sqvarna/Husqvarna-AV-Mount-61---272-Small.axd Is the stud the same thread as the handle? I remember reading something about re-tapping, but didn't catch the details.

Also, this saw has a thin-ring piston. I don't recall my other 5200 having thin rings. It also has a bracket from the top of the muffler to the top center of the cylinder. This isn't on my 5200 either. What's the deal with that?

One more thing. What diameter fuel line to I need? Looks like the hole's a little bigger than 1/4".

"Real" CZ ammo is readily available from Sellier and Bellot, or rebranded as Winchester. Not hard to find at all, neither are the wood stocks. Hogue sells, or at least did sell, some pretty nice ones.

Oh...and Poulan.... Any of you guys ever fool with the little 1800's and 2000's? I've ended up with enough parts around here to put together at least a couple of good runners. I've started tearing down two saws that were mostly missing the outer covers and I'm debating whether or not to actually do a complete rebuild on one or not. The one I just tore down has at least .020" movement of the crank from right to left in the case. I'm assuming the thrust washers shown in the IPL are supposed to eliminate most of this, but how much is "normal"?
