Another thing to add Bob... Was looking at the service manual for those saws. The part# for the tool is correct. #530031069 the one Weedeaterman is selling. But, I couldn't find the "insert" as Poulan calls them, on that site. Part# 530031077. Even the Poulan service manual doesn't list an "insert" for the bearing. So maybe Nik just used his own ingenuity to make that part. :)

Gregg,
Yup. Nik is pretty handy. Have't heard from him in a while. I still use the clutch side tapered seal installer he sent me.

I think I need to place an order very soon (next few days). Once you put an order in, shipping cost is next to non-existant, especially for something like that. I'm guessing it isn't much different where in the US you ship from. For bigger stuff in the US, USPS ground shipping is usually much cheaper, but maybe not for something small like this going to Canada. So, long story short, I can probably add the ring compressor to my order and ship it on to you, Tim. I did see they get a 5 star rating from the guys who reviewed that set, as well as our friends on here, so apparently it is a well liked set of tools.

Let me know if that's what you want to do. He!!, we might even order the diaphragms just for sh!ts and giggles.

Thanks Bob and David for the offer. I did find one on line for $9.99 so I think I'll go that way. I need to order a couple of 3400 air filters anyhow.

Bob, As far as those nice adapters that Nik made for Gregg; in a pinch you could always get a couple of those long splice nuts (not sure what they're really called) and grind it down to fit the pin and one for the bearing if you had to.

3800 cylinder repair.
I let the Motoseal dry overnight on the cylinder base. The aluminum solder / brazing (it's really neither) worked great. The saw runs like a top.
I had to run the gas out of several saws so I took a little vid of the two 3800's and a 3700 running together.
Three different muffler types. Modded 3700 early muffler, early model with front heat shield and later model with no front heat shield. They all sound quite different. Three saws running together picks up a saw buff's spirits.

Good for you, Tim, with that aluminum solder repair. That cylinder looked pretty gnarly before you soldered it.

P.S. The other site is back up.

Splice nuts? You mean something like a turnbuckle that shortens or lengthens two section of rod?

So after much aggravation with my new to me Poulan 330. Which needed two tank vents and a chain brake then the muffler coming loose and melting the top cover. I decided to put a new bar and chain on it and I must say that I'm actually quite pleased with it now.

Yikes! I love my 330. I was lucky to get mine new for $179 from TSC. I wish I had found out about them sooner. I would have bought 2 0r 3. As it was I got the last one they had in stock. That is one good running saw.

I have almost that much into this used saw just a little less. I have actually left it all stock with the exception of tuning the carb.

That batch came through TSC on clearance a few years (at least) after that model was discontinued. Must've been stashed (forgotten) in some warehouse somewhere. I've seen a few PP330 boxes with $199 TSC price tags on them. Original price on those saws was what............$400 or $500 back when they were a current model?

I don't know the actual list price but I bought my two 505's new for 499.99 each and my new 380 for 399.99. I started the TSC 330 frenzy a couple few years ago on here when I walked into my local TSC and seen and bought the 330 for 199.99. Since then I have had six 330's three of which were new and the other three were really close to new. I sold a few on feebay. Joe25da got one from me on there. The 330/380 is a very good solid saw that was worth more than I ever paid for any of them.

Just broke off a con rod bolt on a 245, but I'm glad it broke during re-assembly and not running...I can
get it out with a carbide bit in the mill, as I just pressed in a new Torrington WP bearing and don't
want to scrap it. Those are tiny little allen head fine thread grade 8 bolts.

Has anyone ever come across a torque chart for the 306/245 or even older 361 saw?

Seems that I remember seeing them sold at $399 when they were still fresh on the shelves. Back in about 05 if I remember right.

Yup, I use that saw the most actually, I put an 18" husky rancher bar on it. I have 2 other 330s, one I traded from aaron, and one new one from marks haul. Also 2 335s a 365, 2 395s a 405 and an nos 285
