Yeah, has the same engine my sisters honda accord had (1.8l) and as far as I know poulans are still made here

I'd like to know that Poulan engine is factory . I'm headed to the Woodlands this AM, maybe I should call to check out the amazing 1800cc Poulan.

Interesting as all my 3400's have a centered pin. Wonder if there is a compression loss with the offset pin and square end rings.

The compression losses would be small, but I do like the half diameter offset pins like Stihl uses.

I overstated that P245 compression at 155#, as I checked it when I just built it and it had a lot of assembly oil in it. Now it only blows 140#.

Anyone need a 3800 cylinder in excellent shape. Seller said it was from a 3700 but it's not a chrome cylinder so I'm assuming its from a 3800 or a Craftsman saw.

I just cut a socket with a hacksaw to make two projections and clean it up with a file.

I've done that as well for other saws.

The reason I like the socket idea so much is then I can use my impact on it. Zip Zip and it's off.

You pretty much have to select one that fits the clutch. My 285 uses the same clutch as a 335. For that I used a thick walled 3/4" impact socket. Any socket will do but if it's thin walled like most standard sockets you may have to go a little smaller. It's the ID that matters because that's what fits tight to the notches in the clutch.
It's not pretty but they're easy to make, work well and cut easily with a hacksaw.
