I might have some stuff for that Jeff.....i'll go look.
That's wonderful thanks I have a very nice fellow trying to help me too (up above this post) I am waiting to hear back from the man in need I really hope he goes along with this after so many have tried to help me help him ! Thanks when I have more info I will post it here. Jeff

Ok I went to Chainsawer and saw the 2 types of mufflers and ya know what I don't dare to answer for him. I thought I would know if I saw them but the shape and appreance leads me to think I may have been wrong when I said his was stamped steel. The "cast" one looks a lot like the one he has . I would love to wrap this up right now but I have to hear from him first.
Maybe we should be doing this in a " pm " ? I hate to plug up the sticky with this muffler stuff. Just a thought, I don't want to make anyone feel like I took over the poulan thread that's all. Jeff

Now that we have everyone's attention I scored today. Can you guys name the P/C's

Husqvarna something on the right, feels like 181

Yep!

Mike

Thanks, Mike. I thought so, but wasn't quite certain. Ran across a runner and two parts donors nearby and am tempted, but was really hoping for the Poulan version when I checked em out. Should I be interested, well, just because? Need em like another hole in the head, but ya know how that goes...just can't have enuff holes in yer head!

Well, i was told the one on the right is a PP475 with Piston etc. The piston on the left is a 5400. The cylinder on the left i have no idea except that the 5400 piston floats in the hole. it does say 12601-D on it. it is fairly large.

I fail to see what your problem is? I asked for this older fella that does not have a computer to even search for one. He went back to the dealer R.D. Falkner in Brewer to try to buy one .He did not even know they were out of business.
If you are thinking that I may be trying to get the part for myself and making up a story... well that's just odd I guess. Nobody has to sell him a part I cannot make anyone. If somebody had one and wanted say $35.00 for it I will call him and let him decide on the price. Some people have scads of stuff in the junk pile and my want to make a few dollars ,then again maybe not. Either way he wont be going to E-bay he is a Mormon or Mennonite or something and he does not do the computer stuff. Jeff

No problem with me at all. But I do laugh at guys coming into a forum they never come to to beg for parts. Not just the Poulan thread either, it could be the McCulloch thread or what ever. We have a swap thread to beg for parts in.

The regular Poulan guys help each other out all the time and gladly offer stuff up. You yourself said sorry when you posted it so you shouldn't be surprised by my reaction should you?

Either way soon as you said Mennonite that done it in for me.

Dumb question but I have to ask cause I don't know. He is not going to know if it has points or not he told me he has never done anything to it since he bought it in 1976!!?? Is there another difference that he can look for besides the points vs Solid state? He has a cell phone I can call later on.

1976 should have had a cast muffler if I remember right.

You don't give many clues with just that one photo.

From what I can tell, "if" that one is for a 475 its different then the two I have had. It has no fin clearance for the air injection (that the 475 didn't have anyway) and it dose not have the boss for a decomp either.

The other cyl, I have no clue from just that picture.
