Going to look at a 306a after work. It has sat for 10 years. I assume it will need hoses and carb kit. Is there anything to look for specifically on these saws? What's the going rate for one?

Nope nothing out of the ordinary to look out for on those.

What is the going rate? I didnt know there was a going rate...

Sorry to but in but i have to ask a poulan question . A very nice man that i just bought a poulan from has a saw in need of a muffler. He has a 306 A and his muffler is all rotted away pretty much and he cannot find one. If anyone has one they would sell please pm me.
Also he would like me to ask if anyone has a pto side cover for the same saw so he can run a straight bar? He has a bow bar on it now. But the main want is the muffler. Thanks Jeff

Yeah I'm sorry I have to say it.....

You think Poulan collectors are just going to up and part with parts they use on the saws they collect? For someone they don't even know? Good one. you had me going for a few minutes...

Tell your nice man friend to keep a watch on ebay for those parts, there on there right now, just open up his wallet and get it done.

Now that we have everyone's attention I scored today. Can you guys name the P/C's

I fail to see what your problem is? I asked for this older fella that does not have a computer to even search for one. He went back to the dealer R.D. Falkner in Brewer to try to buy one .He did not even know they were out of business.
If you are thinking that I may be trying to get the part for myself and making up a story... well that's just odd I guess. Nobody has to sell him a part I cannot make anyone. If somebody had one and wanted say $35.00 for it I will call him and let him decide on the price. Some people have scads of stuff in the junk pile and my want to make a few dollars ,then again maybe not. Either way he wont be going to E-bay he is a Mormon or Mennonite or something and he does not do the computer stuff. Jeff

Jeff, find out if he needs a steel or cast muffler? If the saw has points he needs a cast muffler, solid state + steel. they made two different kinds. I may have a used one in the pile.

Does your friend have a steel or cast muffler?

it looks like tin / thin steel? box type, it had one bolt in the center I saw? Sorry not much help I know but I don't have the saw.
Look only part with one if you have plenty or don't foresee needing it yourself. He will pay if he does not want to pay the price well at least I tried for him. His has the inner baffle? either broken free? or rusted out. He was just showing me because I never saw a bow saw in person .
He was saying the only problem I have is the muffler and if I wanted to run a regular bar I don't have a side cover for that either. I think the muffler is more important though, Thanks for at least reading thi,s he would be tickled that someone even took the time. Jeff

Know of a 306 muffler, but I dont know which one either. Also 2 clutch covers.
Well all I can tell you is the muffler is thin steel like , has one bolt (that I saw) in the middle of it. As for the side cover just pm me with a price and I will stop by sometime soon and ask him if he wants to spend the money. That's all I can do right. Jeff

Jeff if I had one it would be yours or his free for shipping. I just don't do that series of saws, sorry. I can give you links to parts though.
Ok please keep that in mind for me. I will wait to see if anyone here has one to sell first. I will write you down as having some info maybe too.
Ps the free for shipping is kind but he does not expect it for free just a fair price I think. But wow that is a great offer thanks a bunch. Jeff

Dumb question but I have to ask cause I don't know. He is not going to know if it has points or not he told me he has never done anything to it since he bought it in 1976!!?? Is there another difference that he can look for besides the points vs Solid state? He has a cell phone I can call later on.

I tried to send the link to acres site don't think I did it right. Anyhow I have a call into him now. If you go to acres site and find ( 306 a ) and look at the muffler in that picture I think his is the same. It look's like stamped steel to me like a stihl type muffler or one of my Partners.
Yea I get the cast is for points and solid state is stamped steel. What I was trying ( poorly I might add ) was to ask if there were any other difference's he could look at. Like handle bar or air cleaner being a bit different? No problem though when I get a hold of him I will see if he can go out and look at it. If I could see the "cast type " I bet I could tell you. Jeff
