Nice wood, but if that vine is "furry" I think its sumac, don't qoute me on it but I cut up a maple last fall. My first mistake was cutting in low light at dusk, second was hauling it to the truck in short sleeves. 2 days later I was scratching my forearms in my sleep. Course I wasnt in real trouble till the wife got it on her back!
Id pull that crap off with gloves whatever it is before you cut it.

He said when up swapped the tank with a later one it needed vented different, I am no expert on these so I didn't argue. At some point I'll redo it, but its kinda nice for a change to pick up a saw that runs & run it & not work on it off & on for weeks before running it. Ha Ha
If you would like a factory tank for that saw I have one you can have for the shipping. I don`t know what they could have put in there that would fit and use a vent like that.

Every ash tree I cut is covered with that stuff. Some have so much it looks like guy wires. You have to clear the vines so the tree will fall. I have had oozing sumac sores soo bad I have had to bandage my arms up like a burn victim.

I just wanted to say thanks to those who helped me find these parts. I never should have offered to help him but he seems like a nice guy so what the hey. I do appreciate your time ,Jeff

Glad to be able to help you find the parts.

Cant believe one here was snobby to you like that and refused to help :dizzy:. Just pizz poor attitude here lately and not needed helping folks out IMO.

That doesn't sound like any fun. My kids were fishing with the neighbors last saturday while i was cutting wood. My son caught a 10" bass & another kid pulled out a pretty good size catfish. I was trying to show my 4 year old son how to toss it out & set the hook on a blue gill instantly, it ticked him off I didn't have to wait, ha ha. That was nice weather then, fired up the OWB again last night, cold is back at least thru thursday it seems

That's for sure.
Almost as bad as "needling" just because you can.

Looks like we need an evening of beer drinking and singing Kum-ba-yah!

Well thank you all for taking the time to steer me in the right direction. I ordered his muffler and I guess he ordered his side cover himself.
I met the guy when I went to look at / buy an older? green poulan he had advertised. The first thing I saw was a little gazebo made from piled wood. I knew then the guy took pride in his things. In his shed he has the poulan I came to see, but he also had a 306a with a bow bar on it.
I was amazed you just don't see those up here in Maine. He explained that he used to live in Virginia years ago and he bought both poulan's there. He showed me all about the bow saw and told me he uses it every fall to saw up his tree length into fire wood. I told him if he ever sold it I would be interested in it. That is when he showed me where he had his muffler brazed in the past. He said the baffles inside were about gone. So that's when I thought of you guys and offered to try to help him find a muff and side cover for his 306a.

Glad to have helped and no big deal about helping another out IMO. 306 parts are everywhere and dont understand the hoarding mentally of one :dizzy::rolleyes:. Just hope it is right muffler since it didnt show pics. But for $8.99 and shipping worth the gamble IMO.

Listen you can "I have a potty mouth". A person can't hoard what they don't have. I used my last pre 78 muffler on that Allis last week.

Maybe I should have pulled one off one of my saws and give it away to help someone out? Would that be up to your standards then?

Really Kevin, I know you have fun with this but why don't you grow up and let it be. I only seen your posting again when Mike quoted yours.

I think the winter is taking its toll on peoples moods. We got snow again overnight, this is just ridiculous. The glacier in front of my barn has only lost a foot or so in height, it is still 3 feet deep. All the way up to 32 degrees at the moment.
I don't know about everyone else but we have plenty of snow up here. Last Wednesday they said 3-4" overnight . My wife woke me up at 5:00 and said you better get a move on you got a lot of snow to move...we 14" Freekin weathermen. Everybody up here is sick of it too. I need to drop another 10 trees or so then next years wood will be done. Every day we get an inch or two today we will get 3-5" I guess it is a blizzard now !
We are going on a Caribbean Cruise in April, and it will seem good to get out of here for a few days that's for sure. I told the wife when we get back I bet we have more snow on the ground than when we left! Jeff

When I lived in MT (stationed there) my friend got stationed in Maine. Sounded like Maine was cold as heck and very snowy. More so then the 9 months of the year we got in MT.
I used to say in MT we had 4 seasons, June July August and Winter.

:ices_rofl::laugh::p

And there are two seasons on the Poulan thread...good and bad..., often interchanged and confused with one another depending on which way the wind is blowing and who's the biggest a$$hole on any given day...occasionally multiple times in any given day.

Mark and Kevin have been at it for a while now. Ain't gonna change until they both chill some ego and attitude relative to everyone else in the world of Poulan (not to mention each other)..., of which there are many of us.

I've been fortunate enough to have met em both, and I like em both. Coupla great guys..., and ornery guys who know their stuff. My kind o' no BS men. No debate there.

But..., it seems like there's room for both of em to still grow up a little bit and keep their petty sparring on the side since the world of Poulan will still go on and survive without em in spite of what each may think..., just my humble opinion, fellas. Oh..., and a fact.

We're either here to help each other and learn from each other, or not.

And most days the weather is good around here.

No personal offense intended toward either of my friends, Mark and Kevin.

Just sayin'....

A week or two ago I posted about picking up a Craftsman branded, powersharp equipped 20 and an Allis Chalmers 25DA. I just now got the photos uploaded.

Here's the 20:

First time I've seen that style of "muffler" on a 25. Original?

Well I don't know anyone, really and all I am able to do is ask questions it seems. I would love to have the knowledge of Mark and Kevin but I do not. Most of the time when you see me I am asking a question because I just don't know anyone better to ask !
Go to your local Stihl , Husky dealer and ask them if they know which way the starter Pall goes on a P-70 see how far you get with that one. They do what they do, and they do it well I am sure . I don't own anything newer than 1984 saw myself, am I poor,.. not in the least. I just don't see a need for me to toss good working saws for a brand new one I guess.
In my mind I try to answer peoples questions when they ask, but I don't say it out loud .The reason is simple I am not sure enough of my answers. Most of the time i don't dare to offer advice to someone who really just needs the right answer. Once in awhile my answer would have been right but not often enough to offer it up. So I read and listen.
I don't spend a lot of time on any thread really. I hang out in the main chainsaw page mostly. When I come to the Partner, Poulan, Homelite threads to me it is the difference between going to a general family doctor ( main page ) and going to a specialist (any sticky) . When I come to these specialty threads it is not normally to join in,.. but to ask questions instead. I don't join in mainly because I have no clue about the saws enough to participate. So I keep quite or ask a question, one or the other usually...ha ha. Jeff

Hey Pogo.

I just stop in to help folks from time to time here being I see some need it when others wont help.

I just dont like how some talk down and belittle other folks here. Just help or keep quite if nothing good to say to the guys asking IMO.

I'll tell you this I wont back down from no man trying to start BS with me though ;). Whether he is a cell or keyboard warrior :ices_rofl::laugh:.
