Is it ground hog day already?

Here it again. Thanks to Mark. I thought it was him but didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
Someone did manage to find aftermarket seals for the saws.
-PTO seal: 530001936. Dichtomatik 068091VM (dist by Rankin Industries). .687"x.937"x.135" (OEM). .688"x.938"x.172" (AM...acceptable).

-FW seal: 530019042. CR 5542 or 5541.

-Oil pump seal: 530019035. Dichtomatik 0608081SM.

Tim, that was me.

The Dichto catalog number was wrong on the seal for the oil pump cover, I'll have to double check what I found, but did eventually find the right ones there too. They took the six wrong numbered ones back, and swapped them for the correct ones.

Fastenal distributes those Dichto seals here in the states. Boca Bearings also has them at a much lower price, but you have to dig around with their crappy search engine. Boca Raton is the place you should visit when it's January in Ontario.

EDITED: The Oil Pump seal is just a grease seal, so the factory was single lip, no garter, steel OD casing. There were two Dichtos that I tried, one 06081SM-BX & the 0608709VC-BX. The VC was a single lip-no garter-0.094" wide with a rubberized OD and it would not stay in place with all the grease in the pocket. The SM is single lip-garter spring-0.125" wide steel OD and it stays put when you install it, so that one works. OD/ID dimensions & nitrile seal material were exactly the same.

PTO inner seal: 530001936. Dichtomatik 068091VM, .687"x.937"x.135" (OEM). .688"x.938"x.172" (AM...acceptable).

FW seal: 530019042. CR 5542 or 5541. (The 42 is Viton & the 41 Nitrile)

Oil pump seal (PTO outer seal): 530019035. Dichtomatik 06081SM-BX, .625"x.875"x.125" (AM...acceptable).

Thanks much. Now just need numbers for 361 and 401

Just my personal opinion but that Vanguard chain you have on the Craftsman will do it no favours.

Now that's interesting. I don't know much about chains - What would you suggest? This is the chain the saw came with. I do have it good and sharp, and I do find it cuts ok, but I'm all for improving things..

Sorry, can't help you out there.

Pull the seals and measure the shaft step and pocket bore, then go hunting on the CR and Dichto websites. Easy, but time consuming, and you'll have a moonshine style headache after decoding their seal nomenclatures.
Once they work their way to the top of the rebuild pile I'll have to commit some time to that
Edit-just realized I had the info on the 361; just need the 306a info. Please excuse my CRS

Got my 4200 carb stud bolts today thanks to Chris at Saw Salvage. Put it back together tonight and after cleaning the carb it still won't adjust right and is leaking fuel through the muffler. So carb kit is on my list now to hopefully do the trick.
On another note, with the oil screw completely closed it's still throwing tons of oil and leaking out the chain cover while running. Anybody know what might be causing that issue?

Most saws pump oil while they are idling. The pumps on the larger saws which are made to rum larger bars, pump lots of oil.
When the chain is not spinning, the oil has no where to go except down the back of the bar slot.

So that's normal then? I took the oil pump apart last night and everything looked ok. Should it still be oiling like that though with the screw completely closed?

The screw doesn't shut the oiler off. That's the min setting. They do oil well.
Those oilers are made to oil a 36" bar on the 85 cc saws. If you're running a 20" bar it will be a little excessive.

Too much is always better than not enough.

Ok, good to know, I thought it shut it off when completely closed. And yes it has a 20" bar on it right now until I get one that's a little bigger.
Thanks as usual for the info guys.

Can I use Permatex Motoseal instead of a gasket on the 4200 oiler? When I took off the oiler last night the gasket looks like it could be replaced while I have it off.

There are a lot of areas you likely don't want sealant in the pump. I can send you a gasket template if you like.
