Okay thanks. I think I remember either you or someone else mentioning the 2700 and 2800 series as a limber.

If you had a choice between the Craftsman 3.3 and a Poulan 3400, both for $60, which would you choose?

Never mind. Sounds like the 3400 is the better buy. Compared the two on acres internet. 3400 is a bit lighter, 2cc more, can run a longer bar, and uses 3/8" chain. I think I could swap out the sprocket though.

Can someone tell me where this actually goes On the 3400 series? U clip

Not for a 3400. Might go on a 2800 or 3000. Fits on the body so you can screw down the top cover. I know I'vevseen it but without looking I'dvsay 3000 Etech.

the part is on the 4000 IPL, it just is not clear where it goes on the saw, it is somewhere in the clamp configuration.

Never put complete faith in Acres site, it is full of mistakes. Sad thing he has no interest or time in correcting them even when given factory backed up specs.

A 3400 weighs 2 lbs more then a 3300Poulan 3300 weight (medium).JPG

both....great price on each. I would rather run the 3.3, seems lighter and better balanced as it should because it is a newer design.

I have to figure out exactly when Poulan/Craftsman went down hill. I was thinking older is better.

don't believe everything you read there. My 3.3's "feel" lighter. Perhaps it is a PHO vrs a saw ready to run weight.

That sucks. I was happy that the acres internet plus this site gave me a good picture on the quality and other details of individual saws. Plus this site gives me first hand experiences of reliability, cutting prowess, etc. Just have to sift through some BS and personal bias lol.

Get'um BOTH !!! That is a no brainer.... :)

lol. I have to start slow dude! Wife already asked me why I need more than one saw last night. Only thing I could think of was ohiogregg's story (I think that's who it was).

Also, not a Poulan, but there's a Husqvarna 345 that I can get for $60 too. Choices choices.

So one of the 5200's I picked up a couple months ago is almost ready to cut wood.
It runs good, idles good and sounds good but it's still spitting some black fluid out the exhaust outlet and the front plate. I took a picture but I don't really know the cause or fix? Like I said it seems to run and idle great. You can see the spots on the top of the clutch cover. I just don't want to go cut with it and toast the thing.

It's probably running rich. That would be unburned mix coming out.

So not as much oil in the fuel? I thought I had it pretty close to 40:1 but maybe not.

No. It has nothing to do with the mix ratio.
The carb is set too rich on the high side mixture screw which would be the top mixture screw or, there is something not functioning correctly in the carb.

How many turns out are the low and high mixture screws?
