Rocketnorton was kind enough to send me a nice Poulan decal for my garage/beer fridge. Looks good on there!

That's pretty bad A right there! Would love to have one. My truck is close to the blue in the Countervibe stickers. I've thought about putting the "Poulan" in proper green across the windshield. Lol

I had my 3000 that I put back together recently out for a session on Sunday at a local woodcutting fundraiser. Logging truck loads of lodgepole. With a sharp chain on a 16" bar, the saw pulled with conviction. It turned a lot of rich homeowners and their dull-chained European saws off packing to cut on other loads. A professional faller worked a load with me. He named it the Orange Ripper. A pretty honest observation considering how it pulled alongside his ported Swedes in the smaller stuff. I had to begrudgingly retire it as the starter pulley/pawl-pins snapped off at one point. Maybe I shouldn't have dropped the base gasket? Likely looking for a used pulley assembly when my novice plastic welding skills fail. Going to try nonetheless.

We're back at it next Sunday. Attack of the Countervibes perhaps.

I highly recommend you Eastern folks tear into some softwood if you can. Not necessarily for burning but for the huge satisfaction you'll get when those Poulans drop like a hot knife through butter.

About the only Pine I ever cut, was the butt end off a Christmas tree once.. We do have some soft woods though. Basswood & Silver Maple. Just don't cut them much.

Gregg,

Gregg,
Ha! Yeah, he says that about the same time I post a pic of a big white oak. *snicker* Didn't see it until after though. Not alot of pine cut here either. But the occasional silver maple... Poplar is pretty soft in comparison to the rest of the hardwoods too.

I really should have saved a couple of those logs and milled them. They were pretty and straight. Keep me and the fam pretty dang warm too.

I would say Silver Maple, Basswood, Poplar and other Aspen's would be about the same as pine but not gummy. The thing I can't relate to is that the pines and spruce grow slower here than on the west coast due to the reduced growing season. I like Silver Maple as it doesn't burn too quickly and splits when you look at it. It's still hard to beat white ash though. The softer woods don't get much attention from me as I don't have the space to store fast burning wood.

Used one tonight, my craftsman 3.7 from Modifiedmark. We've had huge wind storms today and tonight and tons of trees down.
Went to pick up my daughter after work so I threw the saw in the truck just in case. Came around a corner and traffic was stopped cause a pine was laying halfway across the road. Well guess who had a saw ready!
Started in two pulls and I made 4 cuts and some other guys stopped and helped move the pieces off to the side of the road. Less than 5 minutes and both lanes were open and cars went through:)

Yup... They get used. :)

Looks like a good workout for the saws. Only thing I've been cutting lately is white oak. What's the specs on that PP 455? Thought for a sec it was my dream saw (655/5200/5400)

It handled it quite well. 20" hardnose bar on the 455....I believe it's 4.4ci/72cc's. It'll pull with any 044/440 and dang close with 046/460. Sounds muuuuch better too. Muscle car vs euro whiney sounding piss revvers. Haha

I love the way it looks, like a mini 655. May have to add it to my wish list.

Here you go Bull... Posted it before i believe, but a while back... Yes, it's the baby brother to the 655. Would love to have a 405(4.0ci/65cc) and the 525(5.0ci/82cc) to make the set... Maybe one day....
