Yes 4000, here is the pic of the jug on that side. Smooth everywhere.
Seems to be a bit of side to side play in the crank.

Well that looks ok, I think I'll stick by the theory that the saw was run with a bad air filter and ingested a lot of dust to wear that piston like that.

I think that skirt is too thin, piston to cyl clearance is probably shot and I'm afraid it will rock and end up breaking that thin skirt.

Pistons are around if your patient or know who to ask.

Thanks Mark, guess I'll keep my eyes open for a new piston.

For a 3400 that would be great numbers. The 3700 in my experience is usually close to the 4000. But most 4000's, for whatever reason, are almost always right at 150. I can't really tell you why? They are all put together the same way. lol Take someone way above my Poulan tech level to explain it. Maybe ModifiedMark or that sneaky smart fellow from Kentucky. Mike the Moparman can splain it. I know he has the stoutest 4000 I have ever run, hidden amongst the rest of his "old junks" :guitar:

Gregg,

What I have found is the 3400 usually clocks in at around 120.
The 3700 135-145
and the 4000 around 150.

Unless someone has helped them. Then, maybe just a tad more! :D

So worked more on my $30 3700 tonight. New fuel lines, pulled the jug and checked the p/c. Piston looks new, jug has a tiny pit hole in it the size of a pen tip but other than that looks fine. Gasket was missing between the cylinder and intake so I made one of those too. Put it all back together and it runs really good but only blows a 125 on the psi. That's low for a 3700 isn't it? Both my red thin ring craftsmen 3.7's are at 150!

Chris,

The 3400 - 4000 series have a different muffler. Here's a pic of a 4000 muffler. The other don't have this side port.

As far as I know, all the 4200 - 8500 saws have the same round exhaust port.

Thanks for the photo, I've only seen the ones without the side port. My first reaction was OK, so where the heck does the exhaust go? Mark & some folks here explained it to me.

I don't know. What do you think they're worth?

They are worth whatever you want to pay for them. ;) The PP375 is a 3700 Poulan with 4000 externals, painted gold & black. The 375 & 395 were the last saws in that series. Made around 1990 or so, give or take.

Gregg,
