So worked more on my $30 3700 tonight. New fuel lines, pulled the jug and checked the p/c. Piston looks new, jug has a tiny pit hole in it the size of a pen tip but other than that looks fine. Gasket was missing between the cylinder and intake so I made one of those too. Put it all back together and it runs really good but only blows a 125 on the psi. That's low for a 3700 isn't it? Both my red thin ring craftsmen 3.7's are at 150!

Yes, fresh 3700's usually are in at about 150, base gasket delete picks up about 5 psi, the one I sent to you was at 155-160 if I remember right. Have you checked it lately after you run it some more, I know I only had maybe 1 tank through it so wondering if the rings seated some more and picked up any more compression

The saw I got from you tested at 150 yesterday, I've cut with it a couple times, maybe have 2 tanks through it.

I thought 125 on this 3700 was a little low. Seems to run good though.

I seem to run good too, at times. But not nearly as well as I did 35 years ago. Unfortunately, a new piston/rings isn't gonna fix me..LOL

Gregg,

Haha, c'mon Gregg, you never know unless you try! I'll probably run the 3700 as is with the 125psi seeing as everything looks good. Still need to start looking for a 4000 piston/rings though.

Might have to rethink pawn shop shopping... I was at one around the corner from work when a car pulled up and started shooting at a car at the stoplight. Must have been 10 shots at least.
