I disagree, I believe that saw has a lot to do with Poulan just as the Husky and Jonsered models you mention do, especially since there probably all produced in the Poulan plant.

That Craftsman saw is probably a version of a updated 4218 type saw with the 5020 style clutch cover and handle bar. Look at the spot on the handle for the scrench holder. Just a typical consumer saw today, built to order for some company.
Same saw as the Mac, go to web site Mark posted, don't want to argue, just look at site.

Is any body plan on purchasing any of these new saws

I keep my eyes open for one for the right price. On eBay the problem is the cost with shipping. On CL the problem is owners who paid too much for them new, then think 80% of the new price is a fair price used. That said, I haven't seen any of the new design saws on CL.

No body thinks new mac looks like a jonsered

Look under the hood. It is not a coincidence that both the Jonsereds and Macs have CS in front of the model number.

Yeah that's right, you do have to look under the plastic. Just looking at pictures don't tell the whole story.

I have said it time and time again, when building for a customer, they sometimes have there own request and requirements and will never be exactly like the original builders saws.

Yup. Just look at the IPL's for the 4 mentioned saws. They look identical to the point that the 2 insert transfers in the cylinder all have identical #'s 574190801 and 574190901. That makes me say same engine.

The saw looks pretty rough. Not an 8500 for sure. Rear handle is 4400 or 5400. Top cover 8500.

The person who bought it screwed himself IMO.

That was one of those cases of the blind, leading the blind. Sounds to me. Neither party knew what the hell was going on, or what they had. o_O A Poulan 4700.....

That is one reason I have never sold a saw. If I listed one, all the crazy, goofball high bidders would be on vacation or something and never see my ad. I could almost swear that us Poulan nuts kinda did ourselves in, when it comes to buying, anyway. By us talking them up on here, I'm sure added to their value. Back in 2007-08, when I started buying them, you could get most any of them for a relative bargain. I paid all of $90 for my best 4000. Now, it would probably cost me close to $400. Times have changed.

Merry Christmas!!! To all my fellow Poulan addicts!

Gregg,

Gregg,

Back when I joined AS Poulan was almost a dirty word around here; the terms Pull-On & Crapsman were common. There was some respect for big older Poulan saws, and a few folks remembered when Poulan was a major chainsaw brand. There was very little respect for the smaller saws, and nearly none for the "junk plastic" Poulan saws. Poulan prices on eBay were ridiculously low, even lower for Craftsman, Dayton, etc.

If I had known then what I know now.

Funny what this site will do to you, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies and up until about 2 years ago (when I joined AS) I never really payed much attention to what chainsaw Clark uses to cut the butt of his tree and the noul post at the top of the stairs. Imagine my disappointment when I realized it was a Mac hahaha!
May all the green in your Christmases be Poulan green! Lol!

My friend who moved north is always on the look out for saws in the local dump. He picked this PP180C up a while ago and I have it now.

No AF cover on it which I have now. It sat outside for some time and the carb was a white blob. I had a spare. The reed valve had some rust on it so I cleaned it up and flipped it over for now. The inside of the crankcase was clean so I was lucky there. P&C look good. The chain was rusted to the bar which is finished, The oiler works.

It runs now. Lots of compression.

An unusual Micro as it has the same P&C as a 2350 with is a chrome bore, bare piston.
