I see that, like I said I might have seen it before and never paid it any mind. I have that model you have and the same case but thats not the same model I just posted. Yours is a 25, the one I posted is a 25 deluxe.

So what's the story behind this one? 25d's aren't as common as the supers but not rare. The Dayton orange under the green is strange. Def an early one with the red trigger/sliding switch. I had one with black instead. Ill have to look but I had a saw that was the opposite. Dayton branded and orange with green poking thru. That made a little sense

No, I never said or implied that it was rare, just that I didn't have a 25D before. I decided to try to get one of each model, the only one left that I can recall is the S25D.

I have three Poulan saws that were re-paints. Two 3700's (yellow underneath) and a Craftsman 3400 (green on the rear handle underneath the red). I think it would have been relatively common to re-paint saws if the inventory mix on parts wasn't right and they had to dip into their painted stock to meet shipments. I suspect they kept inventory in painted form to keep corrosion off the parts.

With so many re-branded saws it may have happened a few times at least. Does that look like Dayton orange?

Yeah well your from Cunukistan, who the hell knows what they do up there? :ices_rofl:

I have seen several relabled saws that appear to be painted over the Poulan colors, just didn't remember seeing them the other way very often.

The Dayton and the Allis orange looks the same to me and I have used Allis orange to paint parts for Daytons that matched as far as I was concerned.

I know it's been argued/discussed before, but is there a suitable match for Poulan green that can be easily had? I seem to remember Mopar Sublime green, but some said it wasn't a good match..

Yes you can get it in a rattle can from a paint store it is expensive

Wow, that was a while ago as that saw is long gone. No, I never did try to advance the spark. Couple guys here have and guess they had good results. Recollection is using a narrower woodruff key and turn the flywheel counterclockwise.

Thanks. I don't have all the fancy timing stuff so was looking around for proven simple timing advance methods for the future. Initially when I picked up 3.3, since I got it so cheap, was going to try to open up the intake and exhaust and use the "penny" method to advance for fun. But, I ran into the smaller carb ( Walbro 49) and intake boot and figured why go through all the trouble if I cant get additional fuel and air to the engine.... End up just deleting the base gasket and muff modding.

That's all I ever do. Did port the exhaust port and widened the intake manifold on one of my 3400's but not really sure if I increased perf. Never did do a before and after timed cut.

Do you still have one I sent a bunch of years ago? I think that was a mid model s25da, points and round top handle

I do have that one in collection. I'm not collecting a ton of the little ones, just at this point wanted one of each model, not even every year/variation of each one, just one if each model. The S25D is the last missing one.
