New HBD - K10 carb kit on it's way to my local husqvarna dealer . Why? Capital one called this morning wanted to know if I am in mexico . lol
Bailey's and one other on line purchase in the last 4 months other than that I use cash. I will not blame anyone but I will call in my next order to Bailey's .
Keep watching your cards (FYI) Kit was only 4.$ more and no shipping

I added a 5400 & a 5200, or two 5200s (not sure yet), to the collection. One runs, but I need to test the oiler, the other won't start but did run per the seller.

This 5200/5400 purchase was an unusual circumstance. The seller bought a bundle of saws off CL several months ago (I think that Guido Salvage posted a link to the original CL ad), and decided to sell most of them once he had used the ones he needed and found that he didn't have time to repair some of the other ones.

Given the distance I drove and the drive time involved, they weren't exactly a "steal," but I did get them a little cheaper than his asking prices. I haven't yet taken any photos, but you can see images in the link. EDIT--The guy include two 5200 covers with incomplete recoils.

The re-painted dark green one runs. The bar oiled a little, but I need to test it with a full oil tank.
The top handle is a little loose on the clutch side, will check that out when I give the saw a go-over.
The green-with-yellow-dots paint was poorly done. This might actually be a plus if I decide to repaint it at some point.
The recoil catches, but sometime has a glitch.

The one with the Poulan paint job doesn't run, and has a few minor issues that I know of so far.
The wrap handle was repaired or someone rigged one; the welds aren't pretty but seem to holding just fine.
The case is cracked where one of the AF cover screws go.
One of the screw holes for the recoil/flywheel cover seems to be stripped.

Any known trouble spots for the Poulan 655 manual oil pumps? The one on the saw I got recently is not pumping oil, checked the lines on the pump, pulled the oiler and it seemed fine. Also checked the pick up line in the tank and it wasn't plugged. Thoughts?

Also, the K&N filter is pretty dirty, can it be cleaned with the normal K&N cleaner kits?

Anybody help me with these questions from a few days ago? Thanks!

Sorry Nate, l can't help you with that. The one I have already was taken care of by previous owner. I got my 655 from Bob, (rdunshee) He might be able to help you out.

Gregg,

Actually talked to Acorn and Shawn about it and watched a Youtube video on how to clean it. Hopefully gonna take care of it tonight. Thanks!

Care to share their wisdom?

Actually Shawn said to check the o rings in the pump and Stephen just asked if it was auto oiling but I had already watched the Youtube video at that point. Just search Poulan Pro 655 oiler on Youtube and you'll find the video.

Thought I'd get some decals for my 4200 before putting it up for sale again. Ordered them from Chainsawr but drop shipped by Sugar Creek Supply and ended up with a 5200 decal for the recoil. Everything else was for a 4200. Sent an email. May have a 5200 recoil decal for someone ,when and if, I ever get the correct one.

Nice finds. If you get by there ever again, I would like to have the PP310.

A k&n filter can be clean like all the rest of the k&n filter, just don't over oil. Have seen cars come in the shop with driveability problems caused by an over oiled k&n filter and that ain't covered under warranty. :)

Steve

I had heard about that problem after I bought one for my V10. I took it out within the week anyway before that.

Gas milage dropped pretty hard with it in.

I don't think the Poulan has a mass air flow sensor to screw up though..

Did anyone ever do another run of the custom tank nipples for the 5200/5400/8500 series saws?
Or have any extras they'd be willing to sell?
Gotta do a fuel line on my 5400 and see how she runs.

That's why I'm glad I have a mechanical cummins in my truck.
No computers to screw with.

Mark, the seller is a nice guy, and he wants to move the extra saws. He might do shipping for you. He mentioned a bow saw that was part of the original deal when he bought the saws, but I don't know what happened to it; he might've decided to keep it, or realized it was worth some $$.

I didn't mention the deal in advance because I didn't want any competition for the big Poulan saws.

Somerville is nearly a four hour drive round trip, easily over four hours if traffic out of & in to Houston sucks., Until Thursday I hadn't been there in over 40 years. BTW/FWIW, there is very little to do in Somerville to kill time . The dam in interesting, but not that interesting .
