Got a few new used parts for my 655 yesterday. Some in the mail from a member that I did some trading with and a couple I picked locally.

Got the chain brake assembly (still need a brake band), new fuel and oil caps, a new rear handle tray (it's black and not gray but that's alright).

Also got an intake boot with the plastic adapter and black top cover from a 455. Still need to order an air filter, but now I'm thinking of just keeping the K&N filter set up for now.

i know we have discussed this before but what is the difference between the 69546 Piston kit and the 69549 piston kit?

thanks in advance for inout.

Anybody have a p/n for the recoil spring for a 3700 counter-vibe? Lookd a a couple different sits and couldn't fin anthing listed for the 3700. 3600 and 3800 but don't know if they are the same. M dad and grandfather bought this in the early to mid 80's and I'd like to get it running again. I remember this thing being a heavy saw, and it never slowed when the put an 18" bar on it. I'd appreciate a service manual if anybody has one they could email me.

Thanks.
545008008. It is obsolete. I have a complete starter for a 3400 that has a cracked cover, but all the works are good.

I guess I didn't do my homework. The site I checked showed that spring obsolete. More research shows several sources for it. Sorry for the bad info.

I ended up dunking my 3000 in a tank of water today. I fired it up and and yet again it wasn't happy.

Worked like a charm. Two streams of bubbles. Spark plug not sealing - a small blemish on the cylinder. And, a pin hole in a brand new piece of impulse line. The only thing I can think of was a staple must have punctured that line during packaging. After some sealant on the crush washer and a new piece of line it held 15 + lbs under water. Carb needed to be leaned out after as suspected. Exactly 1 turn out on both. Pumping fuel like it should now.

I think I will start dunking all saws. Easy to do when stripped down. Instant results with a pressure test.

The OEM piston for the 3750 and 365 that come in the saw has a cut out on both sides where the wrist pin is located. They are not windows because they do not go all the way through but the cut out is also located in the same place where the piston would move across the transfer ports. The pistons that I see on ebay with the part numbers that you show do not have those cut outs in them. To me they are not OEM even though they are the same diameter and would probably work. I just do not know how this would affect the performance of the saw.

Those pistons that are solid all the way around like I see on ebay are more like what I see in the 335 or in a 3450 except different size of course. 54cc verses 60cc.

I believe the 530069549 should have those cut outs in the piston.

Ok I found that the part number for Piston 530069546 belongs to a model number Poulan 3350. That could be a different cc size engine then the 3500,3750,365, and the super 380. I did not find any information on a Poulan 3350 other then the parts list. That piston though is definitely not for the 3500,3750,365, or super 380.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a shot.
OK I finally got around to fabricating an outer bar plate for the 3400. I used stainless and it was easier than I expected. Turned out pretty good for my first try. Thanks for the tip!IMG_20160421_075236.jpgOne on left is new OEM inner.

Hey can I get a set of those? Also I am looking a 36 bar for a poulan will a stihl work? 050 3/8 114 DL ??

Ok with a little more research I found the Poulan 3350 is a 54cc saw and it looks more like the Poulan 335 except in green instead of yellow.
So that part number for piston 530069546 is for a 54 cc saw.
The part number for piston 530069549 is for a 60 cc saw.
The Part # 69549 shows for a 365 & 3750 in my Poulan service Manual.

Next time you dunk one in water and try cranking it, use the choke, they tend to start easier. [emoji3]
