The Homelite ones will work, but their a bit larger dia and you have to file the hole in the retainer out a bit for them to fit right.

Easier to use the correct ones
If I'm seeing this right, the vent line where it goes over the connector nipple is what seals in the tank hole. The duckbill fits over nipple on the other end of the connector. That's how my other 3400 is also.

ok. another 5200 question. according to acres it was made 1975-80. did later models come with a chain brake or was that an option in all years? thanks

Some of the 8500's did. I have an NOS chain brake that could be purchased from the dealers in Canada for the 4200 / 5200 saws.

All of the IPL's I've seen for the series show a chain brake in them. They're likely scarce in the US except for the 8500.
The 4200 / 5200 brakes do not fit on the later models and vice versa. Different size bar studs. I'm not sure of the bar stud center spacing is the same 5/16" to the 3/8" stud saws

That is a different looking contraption!!! I don't think I have ever seen one of those brakes on a 5200. Kind of a rare gizmo seems to me.

Pulled apart and put back together the 3000 after work. Straight forward. Motoseal case halves. Most time consuming was making a gasket out of aluminum for the cylinder. Sandwiched the Al in Motoseal. Intake boot, impulse and seals are sound.

I am going to hold off on firing it up for a few days to let everything set up really well. Gassed and ready to go. I was inattentive when screwing the air filter back on. Slipped and punched a hole in the nylon. I patched it with some silk.
