Just so you know. Those small intake boots like on the 2800 etc that used to be NLA are made in aftermarket. Sent some of mine in to a guy that had them made up for us all. Can be bought online now for awhile.

Yes soon all of those boots and many more things will be reproduced. It is going to be a very good thing.

Yes I will measure, the issue I was having is the 245A springs fell out of the shoes. They were not a right fit Like the 4200 shoes.

Are those both oem? With the carrier and clutch shoes being the same size from both saws it makes no sense why the springs are different lengths. I know they have different part #'s and are different lengths. Are these available new? If so where can they be purchased?

I buy out old inventory from dealers. That is how I get my parts. I think it hard to do with how the shoes sit in the spider on the two different models. I tried it and was not comfortable with the looseness of the springs when in the clutch.

I had a little time this morning to check it out. I put the plate on and cover ed the hole. Vacuum check is great. Put it back together (different HDA 49). It's leaking gas at the
carb / plate junction.

The old gasket looks a little thicker than the stuff I use so I think I'll make a thicker gasket or maybe Motoseal two thinner pieces together. Both surfaces look good so other than that, I'm not sure why it would leak there.

Ran into the same problem on one. The plate had a slight warp. Imperceptible. Carb body (being flat) wouldn't seal well with one thickness of Fel-pro. I did double up and Motoseal on both plate and carb side of double-thick gasket. The flange of the boot had flattened out a bit as well. A little Motoseal between boot and plate. It seems to have helped for now. I don't have any extra boots to try.

That is the saw I ended up pulling the coil on and dunking in a Rubbermaid bin. Tracer of bubbles led me directly to the plate. Like dunking them now.

I saw your post with the handle bar foam. I had ordered some form Aliexpress. 2 pcs 50cm long, shipping included for $2.12 US. I'll see what it's like when I get them. It will likely take a month or so. I wanted to get a piece for the 8500 as it's a bit beat.
I'll put one piece on a shaker to try it first. Thinking S25DA

Good evening everyone. I am a greenhorn when it comes to chainsaws and collecting and what not, I'm slowly learning my way around. I picked up a Dayton 2Z463 for $50 that wasn't running. So when I got it, I pulled the plug and it looked corroded so I replaced it. Poured some fuel in the carb and she started up until she run out of prime. Figured it's possible it could be a metering issue and out of dumb luck pulled the metering side of the carb off without taking it out, threw a spare gasket out of another kit in there, put it back together and lo and behold it started right up. Now my question is what are some easy modifications I can make to this saw. I have seen some on YouTube chew through 20" of wood like it was butter. So ultimately I would like to have it running like that.

If you have a rim drive sprocket,maybe you could up it to a 8 pin that will up your chain speed.

just got this beast runnin up and running. New fuel lines and filter, air filter, carb rebuild. Notice the slot in the side of the muffler, gotta love the Bridgeport, also opened the diffuser up with it. And advanced the timing just a smidgen. That coupled with the thin rings= very quick throttle response

This is my newest poulan, I got it for free, I spun a loop of chain and put on a nos bar that I just happened to have cleaned it all up and it is a beauty, it's actually a 365, but the recoil was busted so I had to use a donor one from a 335

Hey Tim, I once used one of a pair of bicycle grips on a little Stihl that has a redneck handle replacement. Worked pretty good. A lot more comfortable to use. I've also had good luck with the anti vibe wraps from Lee Valley Tools.

Yeah he's not overly thrilled that it's mine, even though it's not my brand, I've grown some kind of a strange attachment to this one, I don't think I'll get rid of it

Busy week and haven't got to do anything with the saw. I have a cheap pair of dial caliper but I am so far at a loss on how to mount them. Not sure they would do it anyway. I did use them to measure the thrust washer. .100ish on both on them. I measured in a couple of spots, too.

I can tell you that when I hold the case still, I can wiggle the shaft slightly but I just had the cases pushed together, no screws.

Don't get hung up on it. If you can wiggle it a little bit it's likely OK.

All of my 3400-4000 and 4200 5200 saws all have side to side play,i think its kinda the nature of the beast on those

I think I have CAD withdrawal ? All my saws are running fine. I put a spur on my 4000
I have another 5020av that has not had fuel lines replaced other than that
I got nothing to fix . Still have a pile that I need to split but that's no fun.
Now I have had a blast working with my Dad the last 2 months . My brother had ACL repair on his knee so Dad
came out to help . He no longer grabs the biggest saw in the truck . He is 77 and a 10 year cancer survivor ( non hodgkins lymphoma )
I think I am the luckiest guy around . Anyway that's what I have been up too.
I think I need another saw soon

What was busted on the 365 recoil? Just the starter pawls? Pulley? Shell, spring?

Thats something that needs to be being made in aftermarket IMO. Pulleys 2800, 3750, 365 series = 3 pulleys right there.
