I usually add a thin layer of Dirko around the seal. Also be careful on the clutch side. You don't want to catch the inner seal on the step up on the crank. One trick is to wrap some aluminum foil around the step up and apply some grease over it. Then slowly work the seal over the foil.Yall put any anerobic sealer or any sealer on the o.d of the seal before installing
That's another option.I used a soda can worked perfect
MehHave any of you guys seen the build on the Other Power Equipment forum? Guy made a custom a crank to work with a 2100 cylinder on a 3400, 3700 crankcase.
3500 it runs after freeing up piston ring and cleaning bore etc. It is in bad shape but wonder how long it will stay together.Look at the giant hole in the top cover. Also it has LP chain on it. Is that normal?
I put the 3500 in some wood yesterday and it ran great, i will not run it to hard when i am using it due to the condition the top end is in, we shall see how long it lasts.

Ok so confusion on my poulan 360, pto side seal was correct, the flywheel seal i got was way off, does someone know what the dimensions of the flywheel side seal are supposed to be. I found on thats .879 o.d. .563 i.d. and .188 wide idk if thats rite my crank is measuring like .620 that seams an awful long way for a seal to stretch.
Just got done installing a new pto side seal in my 360, dumb question but the id is a removacle sleeve that you insert into the seal, how can it not leak, it seals to the sleeve, but the sleeve just slides onto the crank, it looks like it would leak crazy
Wait a minute, you have the same username...
Got my 3700 reassembled. I believe for the final time or until I decide to replace the rings and oiler diaphram. I also need that piece that goes on the manual oiler rod and seals the oil pump cavity.
