Will the spring mount frames swap with the rubber mount frames?

You're correct Mark. I recall buying my 3400 in the 80's for something like $350 with a 16" bar.Not sure how well you can see this.
Poulan saws were not inexpensive back in the day.View attachment 544527
Kinda makes you wonder if the saws they are making today will still be around. Ive never actually bought a saw brand new. I wonder what it's likemy Dad paid $299.00 for my 3400 in the early 80's as well. the price tag is still on the saw.

That one word is the reason I've never bought one new, not even a measly ms170Expensive.
I've bought two new saws. A 3400 in the early 80's and a Stihl 260 4 years ago. Disappointed in the 260. Feel it's underpowered. The 3400. Well it's a great saw. A little heavy and not a high rpm saw(10,500 or so) but strong. That one word is the reason I've never bought one new, not even a measly ms170
I have some saws that look as though they were run through a wood chipper but they always run with little effort, maybe it's me but I find very few old saws that are scored, usually just a little low on squeeze cause of the rings having lost their tension, but even that's few and far between. I know I've mentioned this before but I think it's the simplicity that I love.
I've thought about buying a saw new and storing it away for a good number of years but I don't think I have that kind of self control.here is my 1st saw I was 14 years old.

This saw has been used hard for many years, just taken care off as well.I've thought about buying a saw new and storing it away for a good number of years but I don't think I have that kind of self control.
Same with my 3400. Still use it though a couple years ago I had to split the case, replace oil output line and bearings. This saw has been used hard for many years, just taken care off as well.

3500 it runs after freeing up piston ring and cleaning bore etc. It is in bad shape but wonder how long it will stay together.Look at the giant hole in the top cover. Also it has LP chain on it. Is that normal?
