Pulled my muffler off my 3400 to try fix someone's mm and found light scoring on my piston. Looks like it's time to do a vacc test to see what's leaking. Done one when I replaced the piston and cylinder and it passed, guess the seals or a gasket has started leaking. Saw runs good and haven't experienced any problems with it.

I like them both! They will probably be ones that I keep, mostly cause I like the series of the 3.3 and because the 3400 is so darn clean. I'll probably get rid of my green 3400 now

Could simply be some dirt sucked thru the filter. They aren't the best. If it were seals I'd expect to see difficulty in idling and carb setting. Also check the intake adaptor. They're famous for coming loose.
 
I will measure the bore and see if it is worth keeping.

I did see someone has a NOS piston/cylinder kit for the 3400 on e-bay right now for only $165...

Could just try a new set of Caber rings in for 14 bucks.
