The piston is made from nylon with about. 010 clearnence so I don't have to lub it very often. Works great and it's cool to watch it push the oil out drop by drop. I use a syringe without a needle full of thin oil to flush the check valves out. Sometimes they are a bit of a chore to get them clean, a small fiber can make them not seal. Never use air pressure.

Couple of days for the pump stuff, I like to make things like good saws from junk saws. I have always worked on stuff, cars, atv, and anything with a motor. I just started to fix poulan saws cuz I needed to fix the one I bought new in early 80 a 3400. Always thinking always fixing

I still have my first saw my Dad purchased for me in the early 80’s as well, a 3400, I have been hooked ever since

I think I would put that in the parts washer and let it soak for awhile, might help soften the crude and come off easier. Looks like a 2000 I got from my old preacher when he pasted away. Saw never was cleaned but it did preserve the paint.

Picked up a couple more free 2.0 saws . Seems thats all I find lately (and they are slow sellers) . Have parts on way for the 245. I also just bought a Farmertec MS660 kit to try my luck .

Agreed on the tough sell part, I probably have 20 of them, they are a light Little limbing saw,

I decided to go ahead and make a fixture to allow me to chuck a fuel tank in the lathe and turn it slowly with a handful of small hex nuts inside to try and clean out the corrosion and loose varnish. I could have used the faceplate that came with the lathe but I wanted something that I could just clamp in the chuck rather than having to remove the three jaw chuck to thread the face plate on each time I wanted to use it. I had this in mind during the week and picked up a couple of circular drops from work to use as a base. A little welding, a little time on the mill drill and I have something that should work for a variety of different shape and sizes.

I can't post photos tonight for some reason, there is no "attach file" button at the bottom?
