Sounds like my Mac PM605, came with a Walbro or a Zama carb, mine got stuck with a Zama, should have switched to a Walbro when I first started getting it going but that's water under the bridge and she's still running after all these years.

My 4900 project has a bit of corrosion in the fuel tank. Does anyone have a secret recipe for cleaning it out?

I had a 910 Jonsered that was nasty with white fuzzy corrosion in the fuel tank. I tore it completely down, bead blasted blasted it in the fuel tank area and then sealed it with gas tank liner.

I found a 7lbs Wood Chuck living in my 4000, think I'm going to have to tear his house down View attachment 634524

There should be a piece of air filter foam with a hole in it that the manual pump rod goes through here. Not sure f yours has it or not but if so, time to change it to keep most of the crud out of there.

I use some diesel fuel or kerosene and some large hex nuts and shake well. Magnesium oxide sucks up water so don't use that.

Don't use vinegar as it reacts with the metal and produces lots of hydrogen gas.

My guess is this tank is sealed like the SP McCulloch models, I don't want to ruin it trying to break it open. I will keep going with nuts and mineral spirits for now. I dream of making some kind of fixture to chuck in my lathe and rotate the tank slowly with nuts, sand, etc. inside like a rock tumbler. Maybe it's time to get busy.
