Solid state # 506027201 Poulan/Husky number. They seem to be around . China coils are less than $15 delivered.

I took one out of a homelite super 240 and put in my 1994 poulan 2000 once. Still in there today.
So you might have a donor laying around. If not holler have plenty of them now days not getting used in those.

Not the cleanest saw on the face of the earth but it's a running 4200! Went through it this evening. It needed nothing other than a few custom made screws for the flywheel side and muffler cover and a sprocket in the near future. Not happy about the cancer on the clutch side but it's definitely not coming through the other side. It there anything that will neutralize so it does not grow anymore?

Clean it up really well with a brass brush, clean with alcohol and lay some JB weld over it. Corrosion in mag is no different than any other unless you put a flame to it.

A layer of Prekote followed by zinc chromate primer and then your choice of topcoat. The Prekote might be hard to obtain but the others can usually be found at any automotive paint/body section. Here's a link for Prekote: http://pantheonchemical.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/PreKote-Technical-Data-Sheet.pdf

Got this for free the other day. I know they are not very desireable and simply a homeowner saw but I'm gonna get it running, tune it and pass it off to a buddy who is buying his first house. Looks to have had little use and came with two new chains and a carry case.
Anyone do anything for a muffler mod on these? Have pics? Already have the carb adjustment tool ordered.

Hi Kevin,

Underrated little saw. You might want to change the fuel lines out as they are lined with a membrane to keep any fuel fumes from migrating through the line. I understand they become detached from the lines and cause issues. GO EPA!

2b2r , member motoguy gave me a idea about spacer between the muffler body and the front cover that would replace the spark arrestor . If made in a U shape it would allow a second opening below the cover .
All I did to my wild thing was pull the deflector, removed the spark screen, widen the two slots some and flip the deflector over and tighten the nut, gave it a little move breathing room.

Steve
