I tried it once. I went back to the OReilleys stuff which worked better and cheaper to boot.
Repaired the plug hole on the 245a with a Save-A-Thread.

Aren’t you concerned of getting aluminum chips inside there? I usually pull the head to drill & tap, plus you can decarbon the piston ring lands too.

Covered the reamer/tap with grease which collected nearly all the chips.
Did see a couple in there that we will chase out thru the exhaust port with a spray of WD40.
Not moving the piston down below the transfers and keeping it on its PTO side.

I hate removing rusty old mufflers. It often upturns an ant hill of trouble.
I'd love to, but the saw is fully assembled and I don't remember which screw hole it was. I also didn't take pictures while I was working on it.
This one is a 1/4”-20.
Mounts the oil tank/bar mount to the crankcase.
I love the modular construction on the 306 types. [emoji106]

It did come in a box, box had a big hole in it, thought here we go again but luckily the bar & chain were in there un wrapped. My delivery guy must have thrown it back in the box. It is an original unmolested saw for sure, rebuilt carburetor and new fuel lines etc and away she went

That is a great looking saw for sure, I would have been all over it also. Thanks for making me jealous .lol. Now go make it earn its keep and report back.
The 6pak of Oktoberfest sold me . But also got a nice pair of husky chaps and a like new 4218 with case for my labor time. Not bad for tuning and putting a set of seals in a 026.
Oh and sharpen 2 chains.
So all I got is some time in it all.
Hate that gimmick tool less side cover though. Maybe next owner might want it.
Owner said it didnt want to start. Dumped old coffee looking mix out, put mine in. Used purge bulb to pass new through. 2nd pull started.

You probably already know this.... You can put a standard cover on that and dump the stupid tool-less cover.
These things get a bad rap for some unknown reason. My non-AV PP3516 is 13 years old and still cranks - despite the abuse that it has been subjected to.
I've got a 06 wildthing, good running saw and I use it when cutting trees out of the creek with. Never lets me down and with shoot a good rooster tail.
