Even if it was lots at 5 dollars it would still be a good deal

None, actually cleaned carburetor and new fuel line / filter, she runs but that is as far as a went

I just picked this beast up, fairly clean saw, not abused. Rebuilt the WJ-20 carburetor today along with a WJ-9 from another sawit came with a 28” bar

It's junk so you need to sell the 8500 to me. If the muffler is like the other 54, 52, 4900 they are welded. You wouldn't have a extra 8500 parts saw would you
Hahaha, no selling it here but thanks for the info. Looking at the IPL it didn't appear to come apart but wasn't sure. Any tips on getting in there to clean out the carbon build up?

The P4000 ring keeper pin diameter is 1/16”, so add 0.007 or 0.008” to it to get a minimum 0.070” gap. That’s where I set the 7700 type rings & they work well. Use a #50 drill bit, not a stack of feeler gauges, for greater accuracy.
Seriously doubt the gap was 0.061”, that is smaller than the pin, lol.
How deep in the bore are you measuring that?
There’s a new 4000 piston & rings on fleabay for $100, if you don’t want to mod those!
Build you a good fire or put it in your fire place or wood heater and burn it out, keep an eye on it, don't need it cherry red and warped.

If that don't work, send it to Todd or me, the whole saw that is. Might be able to shoe horn a 5200 muffler on it some how.

My stock 4000 rings pushed almost clear in are .080 and I think that's to much after some research I said. 074 and I will stand by that

Guess I will have to get some 7700 rings so I can get to .070
I checked my new piston and rings and they are the same. 080.

They’re the 7770 rings #530024769, originally sized for a 1.965” bore, and the 4000 is a 1.935” bore IRC.
Don’t think that 0.010” difference, between a .070 & .080” end gap could ever be accurately measured by a compression test though.
Too bad they didn’t offset the keeper pins into half the ring land, like the Stihl & Husky's, then you could just grind the ends for a true .007 gap & cut a notch for the pin.
