The 3020 is a nice tractor. I had a 2010 diesel when I was a kid. They say the 10 series had week transmissions in them and were the ugly step child of the JD’s. But, I loved mine.

This one is a row crop model with the tricycle front end. She will turn around on a dime. Will run all day and maybe two on a tank of fuel. Started cutting about 9, knocked off for lunch at 11:30. Started back at 1:20 and cut til 5:00. Was tired from all that. Think me and my brother cut about 30 or 40 acres. Some of it was ruff cattle pasture like in the pics. That pasture hasn't been cut in two years and a reason why. I will plan wear you out cutting it.

Started up the Super 68 with the new chain on it. It is one cool old saw. I was hoping to get it in some wood today but it's just too hot out side. Plus I want to replace the old gear oil in the gear drive before I try cutting with it.

If we are taking tractors mine is a New Holland Boomer 35 with std transmission and loader, got it new in 2012. I have used it for everything and it has been a good machine. 35 hp

What is the best adjustment screw starting position for the H screw on a poulan 1800. Wont stay running at full throttle for more than a few seconds.

Further out than you are now...

Seriously no clue but I'd keep turning it out until it keeps running and you hear it 4 stroke.

1 1/4 to 1 1/2 from seated with the air filter cover on. Won't run right with it off.

Got my $20 worth out of an orange one today. Banged off a truck load of the good stuff this dreary morning. Running well in the cooler weather, though. Don't feel like working on many saws of late. Rather enjoying running them as we edge toward fall. I hope those that are looking, find some nice firewood too. I've been pretty fortunate this past few months while out and about scouting.

Acres says the max RPM for the 3700 is 8500. Is that accurate?

I'd say the info on his site is just copied factory specs, if he doesn't have them the space is just blank. I use them as a guide line.

I wanna try using my multimeter to measure the RPM. Should be able to using the frequency function on my FLUKE. More just curious to see where it's at.

How would you connect the leads?

Works just like a wired or wireless tach. Disconnect the black lead and use the red lead to pickup the frequency. Just has to be near it. If I want it could modify another wire to wrap around the spark plug wire to pickup the frequency better but I'll try with the normal lead first to see. That'll give you a frequency in Hz and then I multiply by 60 to get RPM.

Ok, my fluke 77 doesn't have hertz but my coworker has a fluke 88 that does. Let me know how it works with you and show some pics.

I figure I'll give it a whirl since I have one. I've been doing it by ear but sometimes wonder how close or far I may be from the real sweet spot. I feel like I may be too rich on my 3700 still. On my 041 I think I'm good too but sometimes my ears deceive me and I really need to wear hearing protection which muffles out the ability to really hear it 4 stroke or not.

My hearing is shot for not protecting my hearing all these years. Started were ear muffs a few years ago to save what I have. I still tune by ear though.

Hey Steve , thanks for the picture . It looks like a huge Virginia Pine (Pinus virginiana Mill) . Other Common Names : Jersey pine , Scrub pine , Spruce pine , Virginia scrub pine .
My tree book states they are , " Usually 30-40 feet high , rarely more than 18 inches in diameter , sometimes 100 feet tall with diameter 2.5 to 3 feet " .

I haven't measured the diameter but looks to be more than 18" in diameter to me. I'll measure it next weekend when we go on the other side of the stream and start cutting that field. Field on the other side will knock your teeth out it's so rough. No fun cutting on a tricycle tractor. When one of the rear tires drop off in a bad dip, definitely makes my heart jump.
