pro655

Thought some of you Pioneer/Poulan experts might help me out. Have an old Pro655 with a dead ignition module and can not locate a replacement.
Do any of you know a convenient work-around, possibly using a simple coil in combination with a firing chip??

Thanks

I am a fan of poulans in all their forms, craftsman, dayton, partner, ect. I think Ive always liked poulans because my dads first new saw was an S25DA. Funny story about that saw. My dad was using it one day 5 years ago cutting up a cherry tree. The saw just died on him. At the time, I knew very little about saws, so I brought it to my repair guy. He said it was junk, couldnt get parts. So I left it there. To be honest, I felt bad about just leaving it there! I bought a new Dolmar 540, and forgot about the '79 poulan. fast forward two months ago. Thanks to this site giving me a stron case of CAD, Iask my repair guy if he has any old saws I could buy/have. He says yeah I might. I wind up getting a Poulan S25DA in pieces (runs mint! sold it to my best friend he loves it), homelite 330, craftsman 2.3, 2005 husky 365 (yeah free!) and my dads old Poulan! So I got the saw back, I put new fuel lines< rebuilt carb, new filters and plug, runs like new. Really happy we got it back to its home! So for poulans I have
S25DA (never getting rid of it again)
Dayton anti-vibe s25da (rare saw?)
craftsman 3.7 (like new)
3700 (on its way EBAY $40.00)
heres all of them the 3 poulans are on the right

heres the 3.7

Poulan S25DA

I have a Poulan S25DA that is sort of coming along. I am looking for a NOS recoil spring. Calvin is digging for one "lawnmowertech37" but so far haven't got confirmation. I have cleaned it all up and rebuilt the carb but can't try to tune it because of the bad recoil spring. I do have question however:

If it is an "automatic" why does it have a manual bar oiler button?:chainsaw:

The manual button is to get oil to the bar for start up and to give more oil to the bar if the cutting conditions required it. It was more necessary when oilers were pulse driven instead of gear driven.

So how do you know how much to push it and when :dizzy:

For start up push it until you see oil coming though the chain. You are looking at the top of the bar, at the chain, over where the oil enters the bar, between the saw body and bar cover. Usually a couple of pushes and oil will flow out over the top of the chain. Then start the saw.

When running and cutting, look at the chain after a cut and if it looks very dry then push it while making the next cut. You have to gage the need during use. Push the oiler in slowly and then release it, it is not a Play Station controller.

A dry chain will quite often bind up on the bar when it is being used. In bad cases the clutch will slip and not turn the chain.

A dull chain will typically stretch and appear to have loosened up. Extra oil will not help a dull chain.

Ya, I love the sound of this saw. So far, that's the only piece of wood I've cut with it.

They cut pretty fast for an older saw. Wait til you burie that bar in some real wood, you'll love it! I can't wait til I get my 5400 going again!

Ya, I was impressed when I cut that with it. I figured it would be a slow reving older saw. Totally not the case. I got a few more test logs here now. I should get it out and make a few more cookies and vids.

Those sure look a heck of alot like my Pioneer 1073...not the carb cover area but the handle and the clutch cover are dead ringers...
