40:1 Husqvarna XP oil

It is only semi-synthetic, but I have ran an a S25, a 4200, plastic Poulans & others on this mix; tuning & foul gas is more of an issue, just don't forget
to add the oil.

Poulan 2150's

I ended up with six 2150's today in a package deal. I think maybe I can make two, maybe three good ones out of the lot.

Question is: Are they worth much effort? For example if I spend $11 for a carb kit at Orschlens will I be upside down?

Well a freight train would have a hard time pulling the firewood I've cut with a 3400 and I'm here to tell you that it will pull a 20" full comp just fine.
Not as fast as a 4200 but then not much is!
I'd take one ANY day over an MS290.
Anyone who tells you differently.............doesn't know what they are talking about!
I've seen a HELL of a lot more fried Huskys and Stihls than I EVER have 3400s!!!
You have a great saw and got it at a reasonable price.
Kinda like a buddy of mine from Michigan used to say...."Any saw that runs out good enough to keep your azz warm for a winter is worth $150.00"!
If you look at it like this...That is only 3 tanks of gasoline for a decent pickup... it puts it in a little different perspective.

Congratulations and welcome to the fraternity!

What about a ms260pro? :D

2150 fast idle

If this the one that is close kin to a Wild Thing.how does the fast idle work?
I can't set the throttle up for a cold start. I have a PP260, but linkage is different.
Owners manual says just pull it out, then 1/2 back in for next try, but I
can't see throttle move in any position.

what ya all think about this old craftsman?i think it was late 80s?

Thats a good saw Paul. I have 2 in that series. A 2800 witha an 18" and .325 and a 3300 20" .325. I havent used the 3300 yet but the 2800 cuts real well. Also when you tear these saws down they look strangly similar to an un-named saw that is orange and white....

Was that 3300 for sale on ebay?

Noooo. That saw has under 20hrs on it I bet. I wouldn't sell it. Not that there is anything really special about a 3300. An one thing Ive notice about the Craftsman saws is that generally they have much lower hours than their respective Poulan counterparts.

I'd rather have the 290!!!
Other than the one that was given to me by a friend who passed away with cancer, I don't have anything for those saws.

You won't see the throttle move.
When you pull the choke out it sets the fast idle at the carb, before it gets to the throttle linkage.
Pull the choke all the way out and crank it 'til it pops.
Push the choke half way in and don't touch ANYTHING else.
Pull it 'til it starts.
When it starts running rough, push the choke in fully and it will smooth out and be on fast idle.
Blip the throttle to release the fast idle and away we go!!!!

Well great looks like i got a sweet little 2 saw setup, besides the weight lol.

Jeez Clay!!!

You are 21 years old!
You will get used to the weight and it will NOT be an issue for about 30 more years!!!

By then you won't be able to cut wood without approval from congress anyway.
Of course out there in Texas, hopefully you all will tell the government to kiss your...................................................................foot!

Mike

These saws aren't heavy for their power.
Poulan S25DA-38cc 8.8lbs
Stihl 019-35cc 10lbs

Poulan 3700-61cc 13.8lbs
Stihl 038-61cc 15lbs
FWIW

Wow thx for the specs i would never expect that. Will the 038 out run the 3700?

Im used to it, except the vibes i have to peel my hands off the handles lol.

260 over the 290 all day long in my opinion. 038 will walk all over any 3700 I've been around.
