I found a poulan 306A freebie not so long ago to add to the collection : actually, it's my first poulan (apart from a dolmar 101 hobby that is a poulan also basically). It came with an 18" bar. Older Poulans are pretty rare over here, so I was pretty surprised to find this one.

Flashy color ! She looks awfully built the same like a 10 series mac though.

I had to replace some carb seals, fuel line and to fix the muffler, but now she purrs (barks...)like a puppy. Thanks to Modifiedmark for the IPL :)

I think it's a keeper !

Congrats on the 306. It seems to be a well built saw.

Man I sure wish I had me one of them purty green saws so I good play on this page. It would look good with all this orange and white and all orange stuff in the shop. Don't know where in the world I'd find one though.

Wow, cleaned up is right! If it weren't for those very minor wear marks I'd have asked what kind of warranty you got with that saw.

Very nice!

Nice work once again Mustang. I have got to get a saw in that series next. Whats that have for a bar? 20"-24"?

Nice looking 5200. Those are one of my favorites that Poulan made. If you get a chance look for the muffler with the skid plate on the front of it.

Thats a pretty good looker there Roland!

First glance I can see why you would mention the 10 series but underneath there quite different and for the better in my opinion.

The oiler system is a better setup as well as the recoil. The point setup is sealed better and the crank seals are pretty much double sealed under the recoil and oiler.

Yeah the mufflers need fixed sometimes though. Did you put it to the wood yet? It will pull that 18' bar with authority.

Like the 10 series, you will need your earplugs.

Not many Poulans around there huh?

Must have been those protectionest over there? ;)

? on price

i got a line on a craftsmans 3.7 like this. i am wondering what the value is?????????

here's some of my horses in the stable from the long forgotten giant of saws. ideal saws, cheap on ebay, can get parts for the old ones quicker than parts for new stihls and in my opinion, they run just as good. specially with a little muff mods

Dang, I better go check my Garage!! Looks just like mine, LOL.

I think I may have posted this before. If so, well, enjoy again.

Thanks for the comments Chris, Joe & Thomas. That's a 24" bar, Joe.

Man that's one good looking saw, Steve. Puts mine to shame! Still working on mine, cleaning, etc. Sure wish my decals were as good as yours. Let me ask you a question. Where did you get the fuel line? Its huge. Also is the exit hole on your tank angled? Not sure if that's the way it should be or if someone filed it on an angle to get the fuel line in the tank. I'm hoping its the latter.
Thanks.
Bob

Thanks Mark. Recoil is definately a much better setup. I did not need to get to the points or oiler so I could not compare to the Macs. The shape of the starter cover, the handle, the handle bar, etc. made me put the link with Mac though.
Maybe we should conclude this is an improved Mac. :)

The chain was pretty gone, so I did not put her in the wood yet. But I noticed it's a nice revver.

I have an idea, but will refrain from comments in this thread that is watched closely by poulan fans ...:):)

I replaced the fuel line on mine, I just used the yellow tygon stuff.

Bob, I used 1/4" ID Tygon line on the 7700 (looks like a fire hose) and since they're so similar figured the 5200 would be the same but the hole in the tank wasn't big enough on the 5200. It came with a rather convoluted setup with an elbow connecting two different sizes of fuel line and the hole had been sealed around with silicon. The silicon is history but the hole on it is too small to accept the 1/4" ID, so right now it has two different sizes and I don't remember exactly what they are. The closest I think will work well is 5/16" OD and I'm on the hunt for some. Planning on a trip to Amick's this week and if he doesn't have it I'll get some from my man of fleabay.

You guys all make me jealous! They are all great looking old Poulans, them 5200's. Some day I will own one of them 85cc green machines!
You guys looking for Tygon fuel line, might try a hobby store, or online one that deals with RC airplanes etc. Tygon line is popular with the gasoline engine powered rc planes crowd.

Gregg,
