Poulan 3450

Received new piston kit and installed it. Started saw but had to adjust Lo needle 1 3/4 turns to get it to start, idle and rev okay. Hi needle is a 1.5 turns though I really have only run it for a second or so at wot, due to lack of bar and chain. New year will look for a 20 or 22 for it. Comp is at 180 cold and saw screams. Can't wait to get bar and chain and then fine tune Hi side to see what rpms are. Have posted pics but you'll have to open them as I can't. Using Picasa.

Goll dang it. How did pictures get so big? Looked fine prior to attaching.

Here you go Bob. I use a image resizer through windows. You can download several different ones. That makes it real easy, just right click on the picture and choose resize picture and choose the size. I found that 800x600 works pretty well.

Oh and nice saw!

Redunshee,
I know your 3450 is a type 3, but notice the decals on the covers say its 3.3 cu. Where does it say it is 60cc on the emission and serial # tag? I have come to a few conclusions from what I have seen in researching the 3450's, all apparently have the same 3.3 cu in recoil and clutch decals (unless yours were changed), the type 1 had a green fuel tank and handle and the type 2,3,4 had a black tank and handle. type 3 had 60cc cyl, type 4 had chainbrake.

My 3450 is a type 2, however the muffler is not correct according to the ipl, mine appears to be a type 3,4 muffler.:msp_confused:

Good looking saw Bob! Im glad you posted about that saw. I would'nt have guessed there was a 60cc version of the 3450. So let me get this straight. That is a type3? And the rest are 54cc. Kinda makes me wonder about some of the other similar saws. My PP 380 is a type1 and is 60cc. made in 1997.

Serial number ends in a 3. Also sticker says 60 cc. Piston and cylinder are 48cc. I believe the 54cc saw has a 44 or 45 cc cylinder.

Gregg,

Gregg, I was surprised to see it was 60cc. As far as I know Type 3 is 60cc and other types (1 thru 2) are 54cc..saw says it was made in 2000

I have a chart, it says 46mm for the 54 cc saws and 49mm for the 60cc saws. Not sure if the chart is correct but it sounds like it.

They all have a 32mm stroke if someone wants to do the math.

No, its Christmas Eve, and mine was a type 4. Thats a looker, real nice. Mine was about an 8.5 if thats a 9.5.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
